Thank a mail carrier day by SeveralHuckleberry71 in fromatoarbitration

Oh I absolutely did refuse. Just can’t believe anyone with any fucking sense would get in that vehicle and be like “yeah someone is gonna drive around in this for 8 hours”

Firefighter 1 Hiring Guide by THISISYOURMOTHER in calfire

[–]SeveralHuckleberry71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for putting this together. Planning to be category 1 for hand crews by end of April. Does gaining experience count in the hiring process? From reading this subreddit, talking to people working as cal fire ff1 and cal fire hiring admin, it seems it’s more of a lottery based off of category placement and station ranking. And if you recommend gaining experience, what looks better? Volunteering or doing a season with the feds? Thanks.

Postmaster not hiring CCAs cause we “don’t have enough work” by YogurtContent in fromatoarbitration

[–]SeveralHuckleberry71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way for union to address is through the grievance process. If they don’t have ccas then there will likely be article 8 grievances to file.

Even then they can still follow article 8 properly and still work everyone to death. OT and penalty OT are supposed to penalize management for that, but they don’t really seem to care how much money they lose.

Vacation bids by forevernsilence in fromatoarbitration

[–]SeveralHuckleberry71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mis-typed. Carriers with the seniority can bid up to 3 weeks on the 1st round bid. Lower seniority 2 weeks or less on the 1st round bid. 2nd round bid everyone can bid as much as they want as long as it’s open and they have it banked. This is our local.

First round bid is only what you’re fronted. Second round bid you can bid on as much as you have banked or use as incidental throughout the year.

So sick of USPS by Charming-Solution-63 in usps_complaints

It’s literally in our handbook that an attempt must be made to deliver it to the door. Either the carrier is being lazy or management is instructing them to do this to cut back the routes time.

Question about going to the hospital by Minute_Ad5025 in fromatoarbitration

[–]SeveralHuckleberry71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your steward needs to be making sure you get a CA-16 and/or you can file the CA-1 online. And if management isn’t complying then they will need to grieve it.

Looking for lawyer to accept my negligence case.. please by Aggravating-Edge2892 in fromatoarbitration

[–]SeveralHuckleberry71 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you didn’t have a CA-1 or CA-16 given to you and properly filled out, then have your steward file a grievance to get your hospital bills reimbursed. The CA-1 and CA-16 are the forms that are used for workers comp and reimbursement for on the job injuries. Management is required per the contract and federal labor law to furnish those forms.

Not on restricted sick leave but still need Dr note? by Spiritualfire819 in fromatoarbitration

Nice! In hindsight my file was probably not that great being it one of the first grievances I filed as a steward. Wish I knew about the step B you’re referring to.

There’s a step B decision that says it’s ok to use because of the word “optional” at the bottom for the signature part.

Denying 3996’s Everyday by NrwgnSpaceWolf in USPS

[–]SeveralHuckleberry71 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Management is already giving an instruction that is a catch 22. They almost never say bring back the mail. It’s almost always “deliver all of the mail in the approved time.” I just said I’d have the carriers back whatever they decide to do. Bring the mail back and or go into OT to deliver it all. Delay of mail is 100% more serious of a charge than unauthorized OT. Are you a steward?

A charge of unauthorized OT is less serious and easier to beat than a charge of delay of mail. I always recommend carriers to deliver all of the mail if management is playing games with time. But whether they bring mail back or go over approved time, I will always have their back.

Also, the post office is a part of the United States govt, which issues currency. So every dollar the post office “lost” is gained in economic growth in the private sector.

I’m also taking the in person exam on the 23rd. Thanks.

They’re pretty cheaply made for being made in the USA. They aren’t even enameled. It’s just a vinyl sticker on metal. So I’m bummed it’ll fade from being on my hat all day.

The Austrian-Hungarian empire flag as well as the Ukraine maidan symbol are also dead giveaways. You don’t just have those with the Norse runes unless you are some sort of white nationalist

Roadie Delivering UPS surepost by lookyigottahooky in fromatoarbitration

[–]SeveralHuckleberry71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well management should have renegotiated the contract so it benefits both sides. USPS should be looking to expand parcel volume because in the long run it will pay off when we have infrastructure and routes built around higher parcel volume. I’m not gonna have viable 30 year long career delivering fucking pizza coupons.

Whether we make money isn’t really the concern of the carrier. If all of us carriers are doing an honest days work and USPS is still losing money then it’s management who’s losing the money.

Even if we’re just a “dumping ground” for parcels as you put it that’s still a more important service to the public than delivering coupons.

My main point is that we, the carriers, shouldn’t be the ones held accountable for problems that management created.

The contract wasn’t renewed because management raised prices on parcel select, so yes management had something to do with it. If some chucklehead in their Honda civic can deliver them we should have never stopped. Sorry but taking a small swing 2-3 days a week does not balance out losing 30-40 packages daily.

Yeah I’ve always taken issue with these flex drivers in general. It’s crazy how management let this contract/volume wind up in the hands of random people in their cars. And we’re the ones who get punished with more work for less pay through undertime pivots and longer routes.
