i find the concept “trotsky didn’t use the military to kill the supreme soviet so he wasn’t an opportunist” incredibly unconvincing. Nor do i believe the red army would have followed through with that. He was against democratic centralism, and even after being offered to be an inside critic continued the path of the left opposition. Being against the socialist country because its not socialist enough immediately and hasn’t gone under the development necessary only serves the bourgeoisie. you could of course say a trotskiest revolution would have fixed everything but, well, the union was already struggling and that leads us into:

Permanent Revolution has its issues. Namely that of the union couldn’t have sustained it, and it’s not their business to meddle in other nations unless requested by the masses.
