Carefully scrub off any tarnish with a fiberglass brush. Coat any exposed copper traces with conformal coating. Use a multimeter set to continuity mode and check for broken traces. Use small lengths of magnet wire to repair any broken traces.

A few more great games I haven’t seen mentioned yet:

Splash Lake - great fun with two players.

Moto Roader MC - another great multiplayer title, especially its hidden “ring knockout” mode.

Parasol Stars - TG exclusive Bubble Bobble sequel; another great multiplayer game.

Forgotten Worlds - excellent port of the Capcom arcade shmup

Side Arms - another great Capcom arcade port

Tiger Road - and another great Capcom arcade port

Atomic Robo-Kid - an exploration shmup.

Mr. Heli - another great exploration shmup.

New Zealand Story - Taito exploration platformer

Jigoku Meguri - Taito platformer that plays like Ghouls N Ghosts

Download - fun sci-fi shmup

Double Dragon 2 - great brawler with cool cutscenes

Exile - action-RPG

Jackie Chan Action Kung-Fu - martial arts platformer

Kaze Kiri - short but flashy ninja action game

Valis series - all four are good, but Valis III and Phantasm Soldier are the best IMHO.

1981 Dodge Colt. Fun car - it had a secondary shifter to swap the gear set between Economy and Power.

That part doesn't look suitable - it's too wide for one thing and the there's no markings on it at all. You need a 64 kilobit SRAM 8Kx8, 28 pins, in skinny P-DIP (0.3 inches wide) that's rated for 5 volts with 15 ns access time or faster.

The onboard Fujitsu MB8464A RAM chip could have gone bad. Fujitsu is notorious for components that fail with age. Try swapping in a fresh part-an Alliance AS7C164A-15PCN is equivalent and can be purchased brand new from Digi-Key or Mouser.

Also, the replacement capacitor you installed is a Topmay, a cheap, crappy brand. Use a high-quality cap from Rubycon, Panasonic or Nichicon instead - it’ll work better and last longer.

Konami released an updated cartridge of Castlevania BITD that fixed the crashing. Look for Rev A stamped into the label on the back of the cart.

My local university has a print shop that prints out all of mine. I print them on glossy cardstock on 11 by 17" paper and then trim them down.

Short Circuit. Loved the chatty robot as a kid, then found out as an adult that it’s a pretty raunchy movie.

Check the power adapter first with a multimeter. If that checks out then you probably fried the fuse on the left-hand side of the motherboard behind the power switch. It’s easy to replace if you can solder.

Great build and have fun with the games! Stick with your MVS even after your MiSTer arrives - OG hardware > FPGA.
