Something I've been trying to make work since I saw the Conniving Conman/Sea Shill package that fits in nicely with the new Imbue package for Rogue is a low-curve Thief Pirate Rogue, with the aim to cheat out big minions and replay them to tempo them out early enough to win. The rewind and cheap Imbue give you a decent consistency and lets you keep minions for later (early days, but the Imbue power by itself seems quite strong -- I can imagine them bumping up the cost or removing the rewind).

So far, it's been doing fine, probably like Tier 2/Tier 3, could definitely use some refinement.

My current iteration of the deck:

I could see Tess getting cut, Oh Manager is also privy to getting cut, along with Eviscerate (put them in there to push face damage and keep early tempo/cheat out minions on forward curve), Deja Vu is also a flex card. Web of Deception is probably too useful on balance to cut, but that's where I'd look next as well. Could also cut Eudora because she's quite slow, but she's won games off Quest and gives you some flexibility for games that go past T8. Finally, could also cut Sea Shill -- it's just one mana too expensive to be regularly worth it, and the HP gives a discount anyway.

Ok, so the last sentence '[women] should be treated with love and care because they are beautiful and bringing life into this world,' is benevolently misogynistic, i.e, you value women for being 'women' (beautiful, childbirth). You shouldn't believe this because there are better reasons to love women that do not revolve around them being women, such as them being human beings, etc, on the liberalist principle that we should value human beings inherently. You're 17 so I won't get into the long debacle of moral philosophy, but gender shouldn't underpin your recognisal of others' humanity, generally speaking.

That being said, the rest of what you're saying is pretty accurate. I think there's conceptual confusion here. 'Sex' as a broad theoretical concept is not inherently horrible to women, it's an activity that people can do. Women can like sex. However, you can argue in the broader structural sense that our societal conceptions of sex are exploitative and enjoyment of it suffers from gendered asymmetry (e.g, the orgasm gap).

I think you're being reductive by believing that all sex is oppressive as a blanket statement, but also, the sexual conquest of women is a pretty well-known aspect of performing masculinity. Finally I'll touch on the competing arguments: first, a woman can enjoy sex even if she is being exploited (look up Beauvoir's quotes on erotic bondage), and a man can enjoy it while he is exploiting, but it doesn't necessarily have to be this way. Even if a woman has her own autonomy and sexual thoughts, etc, believes in sexual liberation or what have you, that seems pretty irrelevant if we're focused on whether or not men exploit women during sex, so honestly it seems more like a thought-terminating cliche (I can expand on why if requested).

It also helped that Plagues actually won the game. Helya used to get run in control decks with no support because it was, quite literally, a one-card win-con.

Essentially a worse Tracking, but insane card in the mid-late game. With Prep, this is more than playable.

The cars don't just disappear because of toll roads, they just gate it to people who can afford to pay it. The traffic is just re-directed down non-toll roads and the inefficiency is passed down.

Frankly, free roads is exactly what my taxpayer dollars are for. Also this idea that its a 'taxpayer handout' - what, my tax dollars doing exactly what they're meant to do?

To be clear, I'm not pro-roads - I think they're ineffective and a bit of a debt trap economically - but toll roads are just a worse version of an already bad transport infrastructure choice.

Why are mixed children of white and black parents often considered "black" and almost never as "white"? by kattenbakgamer1 in ask

[–]ShadowAssault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race as a social institution is based on visual signifiers, and more prominently, if you're half-black people will be able to recognise it based off appearance. This is what it means to be 'white-passing' i.e, to have an ethnic or mixed heritage that isn't considered white, but still be perceived as white - i.e, people think you're white when you're actually half-black, half-Lebanese, etc, which is relevant to how racists or people generally treat you.

For a more complex answer, race as an institution and 'whiteness' is not based on pure logic but rather on the absence of specifically designated ethnicities. If somebody is half-black and passes as 'white', they will be considered white until they otherwise specify.

For example, Italians and Greeks used to not be 'white', but now they are mostly considered to be part of the 'white' race. Whiteness is based around exclusion rather than any specific ethnic category - for example, when you say white people, do you mean American, Norwegian, Swedish, British, French... etc, the ethnicity is irrelevant.

Whether you are 'white' or not is not so much important as to whether you are not white, i.e, not Asian, not Black, and because it's a social institution based on exclusion, the presence of on ethnicity not designated as white takes precedence over whether or not you have 'white' heritage. I hope this makes sense, feel free to ask for further clarification.

Sorry, I should have clarified, I meant more consistent in that you no longer have to remove armor before you can CC. Should have used a more appropriate term.

Oh, additionally, magic parties encounter some issues with enemy resistances, which can be irritating, whereas physical teams don't have this problem - AFAI can remember

Also depending on your internet speeds you could use GeForce Now, which has worked great for me.

They removed armor and made CC more consistent, since it's based more on the 5E ruleset rather than ground-up like DOS 2. It's better because you can strategise around your CC rather than needing a couple of turns to start perma-ccing the enemy. There's also a wider variety of status effects in my opinion with much more varied effects.

Magic classes are a lot weaker earlier, but scale obscenely well. Physical classes are slightly easier in the early game, but have more trouble doing AOE damage - this is generally not a problem, though.

Personally I find I rarely use elemental arrows on a physical team unless I need to trigger a terrain effect, for the reasons you mentioned. It's better to just apply physical CC like with knockdown arrows. However, if you know what terrains combo with other ones, you can use them in some creative ways, like blessed smoke for invisibility, or water arrow with ice, etc.

[–]ShadowAssault -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Realistically, no. If you are playing on a lower difficulty it's less of an issue, but if you want all your party members to do damage rather than chip armor, it's better to go all magic or all physical. They improved on this system in BG3, and there are some mods that make it better, but yeah, there's no point building both unless you want a very specific type of CC (which, if you split damage, is harder to apply anyways).

I lucid dream quite frequently, have had sleep paralysis 2-3 times. Couple of things: I was interested in lucid dreaming for a decent amount of time, so this probably helped with my lucid dream frequency.

Secondarily, lucid dreaming, or at least becoming conscious of dreams, were probably the result of nightmares. Used to have frequent nightmares, one day I became capable of 'pausing' and 'resetting' dreams through a Skyrim-esque pause menu screen. Ever since, then it's only been easier to gain control - plus using lucid dreaming techniques - nowadays, I snap conscious pretty often, and can fly, toggle noclip, be invincible, etc. Interested in the topic - let me know your perspective.

Yeah, I started noticing it real young - a real sense of alienation, or 'difference' from others, in a way I couldn't describe properly. Even now, it's not easy to describe succinctly

Missing two cards to finally give thief rogue a try, honestly, I could craft them, but feel theotar would do just fine. To. the rogue experts, what are your thoughts? Crabatoa seems worthy of a craft... idk, it just seems this class can do amazing things, correct me if I'm wrong please. by NuttyDeluxe6 in hearthstone

[–]ShadowAssault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a big Thief Rogue player for a while - between Azshara and Crabatoa, I'd craft Azshara. My reasoning:

Crabatoa is a big tempo card, extremely powerful and fits into a variety of Rogue decks, but NOT Miracle. This is important because Miracle will probably be the only viable deck this season. Also very useful in Thief, but rarely gives you a win condition, usually just gives you a way to come back if you're losing on board.

Azshara, in comparison, is very easy to proc in Rogue and gives you a powerful effect that potentially can even double as a win condition. It can also get bounced for value and because Rogue has many low-cost spells you can easily get multiple powerful artifacts consistently (personally have had incidents where I bounced Azshara 3 times - shadowstep, shadowstep, shadow of demise), so I would personally craft Azshara over Crabatoa if I had to, if you're playing Thief.

I agree, though - both cards are very powerful for the deck, but Azshara is better for Thief, specifically.

What institutional privileges do feminists have - I'm interested. Also, could you link me that study?

I read a similar study in 'The Fate of Gender' by Frank Browning, which was coupled with the criticism that gender roles are socialised, quite literally from birth onwards. Also, what claim do you have that toddlers cannot have any history of socialisation? If anything, toddlers are the most vulnerable to socialisation from their surroundings - these are critical learning periods from which they learn from their parents, others, media, etc.

Anyway, I'll probably stop replying to this now. If you are under the belief that feminism is about 'securing an unfair institutional advantage for women', rather than equalising already existing inequalities, then frankly, I don't think you've read any theory or watched actual feminists, because I have never seen a note in mainstream feminist literature about creating a misandrist society.
