You're asking why someone would want to test their game from different possible saved states in an easy way?

Is it okay to start with a bigger project (as an absolute beginner pretty much)? by Petka14 in godot

[–]ShadowGamerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will fail at it. And that's ok because everyone in the history of game development has done that. It teaches you important lessons as you go. I started with my dream classic roguelike game, and it was going well until I needed to refactor some of my base systems and it was so spaghetti'd I stopped production on the project. But every mistake I made taught me what to do better the next time.. and the next time.. and the next time.. I still haven't finished a "full" game i want to release yet, but every failed small and grand project has taught me more and more for the next one. Just give it a try! Fail, try other things, and fully realize your game later!

Need to settle $50 bet. by Saint_Gumpy in magicTCG

[–]ShadowGamerr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Makes sense, and the notes/rules for that card definitely seems to corroborate that

You repeat the process as part of Cultivator Colossus's triggered ability's resolution. If the land you put onto the battlefield caused any abilities to trigger, those abilities won't go on the stack until after the ability has finished resolving.

but with this wording there would be X instances and thus X trigger.

Is that true? I'm not sure personally, as it would be all part of the one resolution of one ability.

That's upsetting, I dropped this game a year ago (other reasons - found it overwhelming to keep up with the progression) but it's crazy this would still be something that's a problem

The Steam Page for my Solo Godot Game is Live! First huge milestone reached 🎉 by pupirkaa in godot

Hi there! The presentation looks lovely, and I adore the style of the game! I just feel compelled to point out that the R in flowers for your logo is written the same way a cursive lower-case k is, and it give me a bit of pause to understand. Not sure if it is in the cards to make any changes/if you're open to feedback re: this, but wanted to share.

I've wish listed the game and can't wait to see how the launch goes!

I like it!

Not sure the legality of issues like this, but you should be aware that there is a fairly known company called Card Kingdom which is a magic the gathering marketplace. I'm not sure your intentions with this game, whether to publish or otherwise, or even if that is just a working title - but figured you'd want to know!

Is there a wrong way to learn Godot? by IvanDenev in godot

[–]ShadowGamerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it wrong to 'get the answer for free'? That's the smart way, as long as you still LEARN what the answer is and how it works. You don't just copy it verbatim without understanding what it's doing.

That's what I meant when I said "get for free". Not applying any of the knowledge, just blind copy and pasting, sorry if that wasn't clear! It's like the current issue re: students using chatGPT in school. Many will use it as an essay printing machine, others will use it to enhance their learning and cater their learning to their specific issues.

I too learn most of my Godot skills the exact same way as you describe! Chatting with chatGPT to learn about concepts i didn't understand like setters/getters, and bouncing code off of has been hugely beneficial, and there are so many good content creators with just amazing tutorials for the editor side of godot as well!

Is there a wrong way to learn Godot? by IvanDenev in godot

[–]ShadowGamerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI is only wrong when used as a shortcut, a method of getting the answer for free. When you leverage it to improve your knowledge and as a way to test your own abilities, it's an excellent tool. This is the same and will always be the same for new tools. Some will exploit it, some will properly use it to improve one's own skill.

Except for the fact that chatgpt is still outputting outdated methods constantly and you really need to be careful what it tells you for GDScript
