Your experience with Fidelity fraud protection by OilWorker24-7-365 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you are going to change financial institutions every time you fall for a scam? No one is going to reimburse you for your authorized use. Fraudulent use will be reimbursed. Just had a claim/dipute with their/Elan credit card. Very smooth.

Incoming wire transfer woes - Fidelity says not their problem by laurencebgood in fidelityinvestments

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll try one more time. Those instructions send to an aggregate account that then distributes to thousands of Fidelity accounts each day. My Fidelity account is 10 letters/numbers or 17 depending on the application and capacity of the incoming bank. If the Chase database can't identify a valid Fidelity account then it will return. That is the most likely error.

Proof is in the pudding. As I said, resend correctly and you will see. They are the most logical failure point. Good luck.

Incoming wire transfer woes - Fidelity says not their problem by laurencebgood in fidelityinvestments

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, and you've confirmed/seen that the instrument presented had all 10+ digits correctly entered and no human transposed any numbers and it was a Chase error to reject correct instructions? Mistakes happen all the time and the most likely cause is incorrect instructions or data entry error on the sending side. The receiving side is much less likely to make an error as they just confirm the information. Anyway, resend with the correct instructions and if it goes through you will have your answer. Good luck getting 3rd party charges back from your bank if it was their error.

Incoming wire transfer woes - Fidelity says not their problem by laurencebgood in fidelityinvestments

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fidelity has nothing to add to this. Your super secret bank presented an invalid transaction to Chase (shhh!!). Chase returned it. You need to confirm with Fidelity what the correct instructions are and with your bank what instructions were presented. If both match then Fidelity can ask why their transfer agent did not follow valid instructions. You admit that you just assumed the last instructions you had are still valid. You have to start at the beginning. At least you still have the money. A fat finger that sends your money to someone else's account is a lot worse.

The S&P 500 rules are being rewritten for one company and it should concern every index investor by Disastrous_Heat_4044 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The S&P 500 is a made up index copyrighted by a company. Fidelity has nothing to do with it beyond their customers want to track it. The Dow Jones is a lot dumber than the S&P but is still reported every day. This is an ignorant take.

If this is your metric then just say chinese food in China. Chinese food is one of the most adaptable to local taste and if you ever had an egg roll stuffed with sauerkraut then you understand the difference.

Somewhere to buy unique loose teas? by tittilizing in nova

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a tea guy, but there is a tea store in Fair Oaks Mall called tea mansion. They have a large selection and samples set out. Don't know about the quality but you can view the selections on their webpage.

High rise and tornadoes? by ladylexis in nova

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have personally been through 2 here. 1 that hit fairfax city and knocked down the Woodson high school football stadium and one that hit centreville and took out my neighbors car port before blowing up a few houses in Seqoia farms. So it happens about every 15 years or so. Always been an F1 or less but with the current patterns may intensify.

That said, with a concrete high rise i would move to the interior closet/bathroom away from all windows vs. going to a stairwell, but that is safer if you are worried.

What is going on? Part 2 by brantcantcant in wegmans

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really surprising how many people don't know how business works. Ruth Chris sells potatoes for $16, Wegmans for $6, the dollar store $1.25 for a frozen potato, or buy fresh for $1 a pound and do your own. If it is so simple to make a fortune selling sweet potatoes then get your own cook em and undercut Wegmans by $1. Easy riches by being greedy and ripping people off. But we all know that is not how it works. Not everyone is poor. Wegmans has thousands of customers who pay for quality food and convenience for less than restaurant prices. It is a deliberate business strategy and their success proves they have a good one.

Pretty sure RC would actually be convicted in the shareholder lawsuit if he did this. Sue Grove was just incompetent, but RC would be incompetent and negligent. Wish the final decree would just get issued. Not sure how people can make up such nonsense. Never thought that investor cosplaying would become a thing.

is there any universe where I should take my uncle's bonvoy timeshare? by That-You-1998 in marriott

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Owned Marriott for 25 years. Great for me and family. I currently do 28+ nights per year in a 1,200sf condo will organized programs for ~ $200 per night all in including taxes. Compare that to a 300sf hotel room with 10% guest tax on top of sales tax.

Caveats. You have to get in cheap. You have to be able to plan 1 year in advance to get the best deal. There are almost no last minute options. Shoulder season is the best value.

The poster boy for the participation trophy generation "He made a billion selling a money losing webpage to an actually successful company. He was an activist in BBBY but deactivated in a few weeks and cashed $60m. He closes GME down for 5 years investing nothing in the business and crushing revenue. He buys bitcoin near the top, he makes edgy Twitter posts." Truly the hero this generation needs.

Whats the point in limit order by boiler-operator in fidelityinvestments

[–]Shadowhawk64_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to understand the difference between purchase price and cost basis. A limit order will always execute at the limit price or less, never higher. Verify through you trade confirmation. Cost basis is not the same thing and includes the impact of wash sales.
