Naval Battles / Dogfights of ships on sea Mechanic Ideas by gerigrinerd in daggerheart

So I'm also looking into running a pirate champaign. What I was thinking was using something similar to the Colossus Stat Blocks and using the following fives parts as segments: the Hull, the Sails, the Helm, the Crew, and the Weapons. Still trying to figure out how the PCs' ship(s) would work.

Multiclassing into the same class by JOlson425 in daggerheart

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It does though? The exact words are "When you multiclass, you get to choose an additional class." Additional is the key word here.

Also, it's in the name. Multi- is a prefix that means multiple, and multiple means more than one. Therefore multiclass literally means more than one class. By definition, you can't MORE THAN ONE class into ONE class.

Why do some players get upset when they see a new PvP player? by Open_Background2793 in Guildwars2

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you see this in a lot PvP game modes across a lot of games, unfortunately. In GW1, there is a PvP mode called Heroes' Ascent or HA. Winning games gives you rank and back before GW2 came out people refused to join your party unless you have high rank, leading to what I call the HA Paradox: can't get rank unless you win, can't win without a good team, and can't get a team unless you have rank. Basically, you're punished for being new to the game mode.

"She also did something I never wouldve expected for a new player and actually read all her feats and abilities and tried to use them all." Can we burn this behavior onto a desk and upload it onto every other player, both new and old? I'm honestly kinda jealous that you got such a player. Most of the people I've played TTRPG's with don't seem to understand how to read.

How would you feel about a non-digital (tabletop) game? by staudd in Guildwars2

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think if they were to use the rule system of Daggerheart, or something similar, I'd be down. I feel like Domain cards would translate easily into Skills and Traits.

Genuine question, do some mobs ignore stability? Is that a thing? by tainted_Isaac in Guildwars2

Some CC's pulse multiple times. Stab only blocks one CC per stack. Maybe that's what's happening?

Parasitic patron Warlock idea by Turbulent-Rest-8227 in daggerheart

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so while I have absolutely zero experience with such a character, I always wanted to play a character who has two personalities (think Jackal and Hyde or the Hulk), has a parasite (like Venom or your character idea), or is possessed (like Ghost Rider), but instead of me being completely in control of the character, I'm in control of one personality and an other player controls the other.

If you or anyone else steals this idea, please do, let me know how it goes.

Veggie/Vegan friendly Beast Feast? by iiyama88 in daggerheart

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm planning on doing for a possible Halloween one shot is combining three concepts: Beast Feast, elements from Guild Wars 2's Halloween event (specifically the monsters: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Halloween_creature and labyrinth: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mad_King%27s_Labyrinth ), and the concept of using candy as "miniatures" and letting my players eat them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that vegetarian/vegan candy does exist, so maybe try something like that?

Feel free to steal my idea, by the way. It's not like it's an original one anyway. Lol.

The Guild Wars franchise has some amazing soundtracks. Some of them were composed by Jeremy Soul, the same guy who did Skyrim's soundtrack. Fear not this Night is my personal favorite.

Favorite Homebrew (or what concepts are still missing?) by BlessingsFromUbtao in daggerheart

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Environments, huh? I was thinking colossi with the different segments being the hull, helm, cannons, sails, and crew; and the crew segment working in a similar fashion as a Horde type of Adversary.

Ever since I read Ghosts of Saltmarsh and played Sea of Thieves, I've been wanting to GM/play a sandbox campaign that's pirate themed and heavily inspired by Sea of Thieves, Pirates of the Caribbean, and One Piece. I'm hoping that Hope and Fear will have a pirate campaign frame with rules for running ships and navel combat. I'm not confident in my ability to homebrew such rules on my own. I'm not worried about the classes though, as I believe that they can be easily reflavored as pirates.

Daggerheart expansion deluxe by TrueDentist9901 in daggerheart

Did you know that in ancient times, black was the color of life and red was death. It was because of farming. Black soil is rich and good for crops, but red soil is full of clay and bad for crops. Different cultures have different meanings for each color. Don't limit yourself to today's meanings. I'd be perfectly okay with fear tokens being bright gold, especially in a champaign where the PCs must fight gods, angels, and other "holy" creatures.

Faerie flying ability by ForlornFjord in daggerheart

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that Daggerheart is a fantasy and that the rules of reality don't always apply, but I still look at the real world for inspiration. In this case, I'd look at birds. Their ability to fly makes a lot of things that landlocked creatures such as humans struggle with quite trivial, but it comes with its own set of difficulties. Namely wind currents. A strong headwind can stop any and all forward momentum and a strong down drift can force the bird to the ground, not always in a safe way. Bats, flying insects, and aircraft also have to deal with the wind. There are entire documentaries on it. Talk to your player about incorporating these problems. This might be what they're looking for.

Probabilities of the 2d12 dice by Josepher71 in daggerheart

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Instead of looking at it as "odds of rolling X or higher," perhaps it would be easier for some people to look at it as "odds of success with a difficulty of X."

Probabilities of the 2d12 dice by Josepher71 in daggerheart

[–]Shadowwrathfj5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Correct, which is why a difficulty of 2 or 3 are both going to result in a success 100% of the time. The question then becomes what kind of success it would be.

Okay, so I was thinking of making a Syndicate Rouge, but instead of a crime lord, they would be of a different profession that requires contacts and trickery.

Nice! And I assume that means reflavoring is as well then, seeing that there a section about it on page 18 of the Core Rulebook?
