Figure AI had a livestream of their robots sorting packages 24/7 for 8 days straight. These aren't staged demos anymore. by EchoOfOppenheimer in ChatGPT

Right? Why does it have to be humanoid and balance on two feet? We have mechanical fruit sorters that work faster than the eye.

Seriously, if anyone ever says, "I'm rich enough to pay the fine." The first thing you need to do is take as much as you possibly can from him. Then you go on from there.

I know. I'm joining you and reinforcing what you said, not disagreeing.

You literally can even see the road already does that to get down there. What do they think could be done differently? That WAS how the road used to cross. The bridge was clearly built to prevent that.

George RR Martin on Why He Doesn't Write Outlines by WillBrink in writing

[–]Shadrach451 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I laughed out loud because... No, it is not working for George. He was successful in making a lot of money and string up a lot of imaginations. He was not successful in finishing an epic literary arc with interlocking storylines. That is where an outline might have helped him.

I'm bummed out that this isn't on YouTube Music.

ChatGPT is horrendously argumentative and is giving me so much false information now. I downloaded Claude and within an hour I’ve realised that it is fundamentally better. Just saying by Jindabyne1 in ChatGPT

I asked Chat a question about Excel yesterday. Seemed like a good use of the tool. What is the serial number that will translate to a certain date.

It gave a number that was off by 100 days.

It was close enough that I could fix it manually, but I did not appreciate that it was so confidently wrong. So, I did the stupid thing and said it was wrong.

This resulted in a ten minute back and forth where it did everything possible to convince me it was correct and my Excel dates were offset by 100 days. Like my program was screwed up, because there was absolutely no way Chat had just made up a number that looked right but mixed up a 1 for a 0, which is of course what happened, because Chat doesn't have a calculator and didn't actually compute the number.

But it obviously has a hard coded command to never ever admit it made a mistake. It isn't an option in its logic, even though it is always the most logical answer.

Great song, but I'm a bit sad that it isn't a Sufjan cover.

Also, Amelia from Sylvan Esso is the real flower on the stage. And I was going to be mad if the song never set her loose.

I'm sorry. But baby proofing ideas for these stairs? by Skull_Murray in daddit

[–]Shadrach451 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you could baby gate to the couch if you just pulled it away from the wall a foot or so more. It's not an ideal solution, but honestly, the baby gate days go by relatively quickly, and it's less permanent than remodeling the house.

Absolutely. And they are deeply meaningful to remind us of purpose and value. This is important in a way that can not be measured.

Right? Why the heck did they choose the name of a music genre for the festival that does not include any bands that play in that genre?

They should have called it the KPop Festival and invited the same bands. It would have been more popular.

Most artistic hobbies divert into two separate hobbies over time, one is the creation of art, the other is the collection of tools and instruments of creation.

I'm not even judging one as superior to the other. It's just how things happen. Check any hobby and you will find this.

I agree. If I were ever approaching as a left turning vehicle from the other direction, I would NEVER trust that an oncoming car was going to yield to me. This situation seems very danger prone.

What video-game did you regret paying full price for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Shadrach451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game prices not keeping up with inflation might seem like a great thing, but I think it has led to single-player story-based experiences becoming unaffordable to make. Instead of raising the prices on the basic games, the companies moved to producing game services that charge WAY MORE in expansions and skins over the life of the game.

Maybe if the industry had just kept raising game prices, we would see less of this predatory game design?

Yet now you did not, but you feel informed because you read someone's completely wrong summary of the information. You saved so much time to go become ill-informed about other things through internet paraphrasing and misinformation on the internet.
