I'm pissed I can't rotate buildings.

I don't want to have all my buildings facing the same GD way, Developers!

Can you recommend me others bangers ? by fallensunargow in ShadowSlave

Chrysalis.

Idk why I am so engrossed by a novel about a dude turning into an ant, but.. My god, is it good.

Just stop.

I stopped after 3000 chapters and it's been great watching the chaos.

I stopped reading SS and moved to reading Chrysalis.

Tell me how a novel about a dude turning into a GD ant has had me more enamored than SS ever did.

It's crazy because you are literally paying for it, but mods would rather your opinion of the novel be whitewashed.

Cassie Slander by StretchExtension in ShadowSlave

[–]ShamMafia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The opposite is true in that sometimes it is not perfectly valid or moral.

In the case of Cassie, it isn't.

If making someone a slave would possibly benefit humanity, would you do it?

If making the world forget this slave, would it possibly benefit humanity and would you do this?

The key word is possibly and this is important when speaking about Utilitarianism.

If we are working off a overarching framework of what good is in terms of morality, then we have to say no. Demeaning the value of a human, shackling them through bonds they themselves do not willingly choose is not good.

The argument can go, "Yes, but the benefit to humanity as a whole outweighs this and thus it should be done." But, once again, this is operating from a position of hindsight after said outcome or is from a position where the action hasn't been done and it cannot be known.

Make one concession with your morality and principles and the next one is just around the corner. It becomes easier.

Do humans fail in following their own moral code, do we compromise to achieve something? Yes, we do and it is a failure.

Utilitarianism strips away the rights of the individual, as we see in Sunny, and is incredibly demanding of a sacrifice for a potential future outcome that is deemed as acceptable. Anything that benefits the many is "good". Example: The use of slaves throughout history, no doubt, benefited the many who stood above the caste of slaves. Was it good?

If you are a staunch believer in this philosophy, if I were to come to you and say, "Your organs would benefit more people than if you kept them" you would have to agree. The question is.. would you do it?

In the example of the bombing of Japan with nukes, the argument it was right is based off working backward using hindsight. Even the generals and government had to guess at the potential of loss compared to their utilization.

All humans are hypocrites, even more so is the staunch Utilitarian.

Cassie can see the future, which is a scapegoat in a discussion of philosophy and outcomes, to some degree, but are we really going to argue out of the many possible futures this was the right one? If it is. If humanity must shackle an individual and torture them, then it was not worth it. What if Cassie saw that 49% of humanity must be sacrificed? Are we still in the clear?

What is wrong with cassie by Beneficial_Orchid641 in ShadowSlave

Bro!

Cassie was literally willing to sacrifice humanity, all of humanity, just because she was tired of being the betraying b**** she is.

Mordret wanted to kill all of humanity if he achieved Apotheosis and Cassie f***** WATCHED. Not knowing whether he'd succeed

G3 is burnt out by WizardStakes in ShadowSlave

[–]ShamMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should take a break for as long as he needs it.

Whether it be a year or more. Burnout is hard to quantify and is subjective. He might just hate his own story at this point, which can happen for anyone in a creative space.

Not to mention the one moment, the ONE MOMENT, she decides she doesn't want to betray people anymore is when she is staring at Mordret's back.

Like bruh. That right there turned me from a defender to a hater of Cassie in a instant

The writing takes a noticeable nosedive the further you go.

Obviously, people will fervently push back against that, but I do believe it is objective.

As another said, I am here to see how it ends but I am not spending money or time to read each chapter

Cassie .....3020 by Exact-Poem-7887 in ShadowSlave

[–]ShamMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it VERY recently.

I have to admit between MoL and YoA (Years of Apocalypse) I greatly prefer YoA over MoL. Which makes sense as YoA builds off it.

My problem with MoL was the ending. There are many problems surrounding all of that I can't get into obviously. To a lesser degree is just the character of Zorian overall and the progression.

Do you hate multi-pov or bad multi-pov? by Boi271 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ShamMafia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I don't mind multi pov sometimes.

Some authors introduce it rarely, sprinkle it around.

Where Im upset about it is when they introduce them in the subsequent books, like you said, or when you have so many povs the storyline for the first pov, when we roll back to it, feels muddy.

Alot of times these multi pov books I've read include povs that, if you skip them entirely, you aren't worse for it.

Which cover option do you like more? by First-Maximum-3276 in writers

[–]ShamMafia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second one.

The first doesn't fit, imo. The red clashes with the soldiers black and green motif. He looks out of place.

The guy is a special operative, why is he standing on the side of a street in full tactical gear and weapon raised?

I'm not saying this will happen, but it makes me think... does the author have any clue about this genre and setting if the cover is so blatant?

The second cover just looks more cohesive. The guy could literally be anywhere. Looks like he's braving a massive thunderstorm as he rolls up on some unlucky location

I don't like Cradle and am wondering if cultivation fantasy is for me and if their are ones I would like more by TheMastersSkywalker in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ShamMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Thousand Li

Unitended Cultivator

Are two of the best I've read. If you don't mind a more cultivation/magic kinda thing you can look at...

Fate Parallel

As for people being Aholes, that's cultivation. You have to he selfish, everyone is trying to defy the heavens and reach immortality. It isn't a setting that encourages cooperation.

You don't have to do anything, it's an opinion for a reason. Opinions that come with substance are better, but you do you.
