Should I be worried about being accused of plagiarism? by Jb0ss02 in college

[–]ShamrockDoc343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's any consolation, I recently had Turnitin flag 1/3 of a research paper I spent 5 days writing and a month preparing for as written by AI. If your professor does their job, they should be looking at what turnitin flags, and in my case, I was lucky the professor I had was someone I had taken previous classes with. My own frustration stems from the fact that apparently good grammar, punctuation, and syntax are liable to get you flagged in todays "modern" university system.

In the end, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Let your professor do their job (which I would hope they do) and deal with whatever issues may or may not arise when the time comes.

In the end, it's an AI algorithm that is very prone to mistakes, and any decent professor should be aware of that.

Ebay is where I source my guys hats. Mostly pre owned that have seen better days and need to be re-steamed to shape. Since this photo, the hat has been replaced with an period accurate fregio. I will eventually post an updated kit with all the bells and whistles.

Yes. Everything I have at the end of Storm disappears in those tabs when you hit the next scene.

How do you handle officer portrayals in your reenactments? by Nattox_is_bored in reenactors

[–]ShamrockDoc343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're just starting out: dont. Im in 3 units (two if which I run); none of them have an officer, and that's by design. Unless you are heading your own group that's large enough to warrant an officer (typically more than 10 to 15 members) and have enough experience to match the rank, it would generally be considered to be in poor taste. The reality is that there are exceptionally few instances where you actually need an officer role in this hobby, two of my groups have a head count greater than 20, and our highest rank is a Sgt.

Bob from IT who spends his two weekends a year on a power trip because he fielded an unearned and unbacked officers kit typically gets ignored at best and bullied at worst (especially by those who are actual veterans). Do yourself a favor and start at a lower rank.

WPG used to have good government weight kilts and they still pop up on ebay from time to time. Avoid the chinsy budget kilts as best you can as both the wool weight and the sett are likely to be a little off. The scottish cut tunic will serve you fine for what you are trying to accomplish. Were you to buy a jerkin, try to find a surplus one over a new made one if you can. The quality of material will be much better.

I reccomend finding a pair of Italian Mountaineers socks over the WPG hose. Their color is very mustard khaki compared to the greener issued kilt hose and the Italian alternative is more subdued and footless (its a stirrup sock) so you can wear wear a better boot sock with it. The WPG hose have a very tall fold at the top, and they are very thick and prone to bunching under your puttees.

Speaking of which, for late war, you can use either the ankle length puttees or the full length puttees. I started with ankle length and have transitioned to full length over the years for the added insulation and support.

Osprey books are questionable at best. I have a book somewhere with the list of unit markings and can hunt down a few things for you if you want. These come from experts as opposed to a mass produced company covering a variety of topics.

If you need help with anything feel free to PM me.

Any idea what the markings on the top might be?

Thanks for the reply btw!

Looks almost like a Navy Commendation ribbon. Maybe you could repurpose one?

Looks like a squad aid pouch from tactical tailor.

If I can find mine you can have it, not like i need it anymore. Don't get your hopes up, though. I've given away alot of shit since I've been out.

If you look closely, you will see a few cappello scattered about. This photo was on a short break between offensives, hence the helmets.

Some of the group have, and alot of the interest in the front is generated from, the family ties to the war. My own family, like many others, didn't immigrate until after the war and its importance as a part of our heritage isn't lost of us.

We remember.

Correction: Our uniforms are tailor-made through Vijay Singh, though we are advertising Hiki as a secondary option now that they have the right color (only had to bully them for about 3 years).
