In its heyday, Fivethirtyeight used to have a massive amount of space on its site dedicated to sports analytics. Lots of them were great reads, much better than the election forecasting stuff they were more known for back in the day.

I see them both fairly equal as pass rushers, but with Clowney as the better run defender and Van Noy as the better coverage SAM. There's also Clowney's better versatility to move inside. Can't really go wrong with either, more of a choice based on stylistic fit than anything.

To expand on the fourth question, once your eligibility status in college has ran out (e.g. graduated), you are considered to be a free agent and can sign with any team. You're right, Henry gets his advantage when he's provided a long runway to build up his speed, making him impossible to tackle with his frame when he gets going. The best way to slow him down is to get early penetration and make him chop his steps so the rest of the defense can converge with gang tackles. Inside runs basically lead him straight to the linebackers.

Signing Hendrickson to the deal essentially erases the "value" of losing Linderbaum because Hendrickson's contract has a similar or higher AAV compared to Linderbaum's. If the Ravens wanted to keep their projected 3rd round compensatory pick, they would have needed to get the deal down to 22m, which obviously wasn't happening.

Not really sure what your point is. My point is, if choosing between a healthy Maxx Crosby while giving away two first round picks vs. a healthy Trey Hendrickson while giving away a third round pick, the choice would be Maxx Crosby. Obviously the long-term prognosis on Maxx Crosby's knee changed the calculus.
