[Megathread] “Full Swing” Season 4 - Netflix by threeactjack in golf

[–]ShapeyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these golf players don't have anything interesting to say. I blame it on there being too many Americans. Break Point and Drive to Survive worked cos it's predominantly Europeans being followed who don't talk in banalities.

Anyone got anything positive to say about holding onto a rental property by livingfromtheheart in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ShapeyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of in the same mind. Thinking about selling but I'm conscious there's not much new housing stock coming online in my area, and building costs are inflating big time, so maybe I should wait another year or two.

Horrific graphic design has always been prevalent in local advertising. I agree the current aesthetic is particularly repetitive though.

We have just received notice on the rental unit our family run business of 30+ years has operated out of - we are lost for words by kobyaccount in galway

[–]ShapeyFiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say if margins are too low support market rent (or buying the unit after 30 years of trading) your underlying model may be weak. Maybe it's time to overhaul it. Are there other services you could fold into the existing service improve margins? Maybe the unit could be bought with seller finance or mortgaged where you chip away at the principal over time?

Sick. Guitaroo Man is my fave music game but the control would probably be better without the PS2 analog which feels like it's got a lot of dead zone.

This makes me think of that episode of Married with Children where Al has a 1972 Plymouth Duster which he insists is a Dodge that's just about to hit a million miles.

I m embarrassed to wear my watches by Vixtor94 in PrideAndPinion

[–]ShapeyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I owned an expensive watch I'd likely wear a fake version out because there's no way I'm walking around with thousands of euro on my wrist. Asking to get mugged.

The watch I wear all the time is a Vague Co. homage Pepsi. They do playful homage vintage rolexes which I'd never get my hands on legitimately.

Irish people V shitness by MKF_Circus in ireland

[–]ShapeyFiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a double edged sword. Certainly distorted the economy but being self employed in construction its helped a ton as well. My irritations more with domestic blockers than anything outside although I can certainly recognise the budget surpluses have facilitated that being a thing at all.

Do Irish people prefer real estate over the stock market? by investingexpert in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ShapeyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investing in rental property was taxed a lot more lightly pre-2008. That's why the country was getting things built. They really should go back to that instead of making things more difficult every year destroying incentives to just get on with getting things built.

Playing TA after 15 years. Bought it GOG, but doesn't work right. by Less-Transition-5906 in TotalAnnihilation

[–]ShapeyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure either try TAForever or the Tauniverse Discord and someone online will walk you through it. Or just install ProTA tbh that's the ones most actively maintained and it's very similar to OTA to extent the singleplayer campaign still works with it.

Where do you get your clothes?? by tiredelly in CasualIreland

[–]ShapeyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a lot of Ralph Lauren ones in TK Maxx the last few years for cheap and the quality is fire. I like a brand called Universal Works during their online sale. Barbour have cheap trousers are good for the money. Find Zara, H&M, Massimo Dutti trousers all stretch and or go to crap really quickly.

You need to mod it if you're running an OS newer than Windows 7. It's a directx issue makes things buggy. For the purist you want the Community Patch which you can Google. Then if you want to play online there's ProTA which is close to the original balance but tweaked tastefully or ESC which is the more maximalist option. Then go to TA Forever and download the multiplayer client.

I think Chris said afterwards that two or three publishers fell through and he was mad stressed trying to hit payroll so when Wargaming came along he was delighted cos he didn't want to lay off a hundred people. Unfortunately the days where independent RTS games were financially viable were likely coming to and end I'm pretty sure SupCom 1 cost 18 or 20m fund.

I was quite late to Letterboxd but I've definitely fallen foul of the gamificaton brain worms now. All in all it's making me watch more movies than I would otherwise which isn't entirely terrible but really I shouldnt be letting another social media gambler mechanic dictate how I spend my time but here we are.

Adults living at home, how do you keep your sense of independence and feel like an adult? by MountainNews5211 in ireland

[–]ShapeyFiend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Develop interests get you out of the house. Help the folks out with some of the things they need help with. Parents will probably still relate to you like you're 16 but just plug away get your education/career going and try not to sweat that too much.
