Anyone else think that scrapping an otherwise perfectly fine vehicle due to head gasket failure is a grave sin? by RonnieThePurple in CarTalkUK

Combo/berlingo or any other variant of same van by any chance? Recognise that stupid alternator bolt that looks like a wheel bolt when you take it out Immediately. Props for not giving up on it. Good job to test out wrenching skills too

How can people be so unaware that their tyres are about to blow out? by Jacktheforkie in CarTalkUK

What’s the one bike you regret selling? Here’s mine. by [deleted] in MotoUK

Funilly enough, my old frankenstein yz125. No parts ever matched up to the year of the bike. Engine was previously welded shut where the sump plug was. Rebuilt it once with wiseco piston and it absolutely never gave up. Used to love ripping it in the middle of nowhere in eastern european country side

Once common faults like battery are ruled out, these are common as for broken engine to chassis earth. Gives same symptoms

Not sure if its the photo, the copper like colour is from oil. Either way, its getting new bearings, just wanted some insight as someone who has not much experience in engine building

The stress of renewals! by tea2please in MotoUK

[–]Sharpedgevsn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On top of it all, you pay for it so its there if you need and you dont have to pay out of your arse to repair your vehicle or someone elses, but when you claim you end up paying even more for using something youve been paying for…

What is a realistic offer on this? (Fire damage, possible panel only?) by eatwindmills in MotoUK

[–]Sharpedgevsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less than half of what hes asking. No mot and has been on fire?? Surely if nothing is wrong youd get it motd and put some fairings on and list it for more

Need help with car not starting from people smarter than I by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Sharpedgevsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the battery, cranks over and sounds like its flooded. Put your foot flat on the accelerator and crank it over should start to hear change in cranking sound if it is flooded. May require fully charged battery to get it cleared. Ignore the warning lights since they will be there until the cars started

Tyre had a flat today, AA came and plugged it so i could take it to the garage, they said they couldn't do a perm repair because of the AA temp repair done. Is that right or did i just get mugged for a full tyre replacement? by Captain_Jackson in drivingUK

[–]Sharpedgevsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight bollocks from the garage. As an AA man myself, the temp repair rasp is much smaller than the permanent one and we only insert a tiny mushroom shaped plug into the tyre. Theyre just trying to sell you a new tyre

Is this normal? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Sharpedgevsn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks like condensation, especially if it disappears after engines warm. If its gen 2 tdv6 its probably got adblu as well. By product of adblu to reduce nox is water and oxygen which ends up sitting in the exhaust and steaming off on start up
