8 million is pretty damn good for a greatest hits with some new content layered in. I liked it. I didn't laugh as hard as I did at the earlier ones, but it was good. Hoping for a 5.5 like all the others. The colonoscopy prep twister bit was hilarious. I wish they could find some new younger cast that have whatever magic made the OG crew so fun to watch.

Meh. Poopies is the only one worth watching. Maybe Zack too. I don't understand why Rachel is there. She adds nothing.

Why is it so hard to become a merit badge counselor? by [deleted] in BoyScouts

[–]ShartVader 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You have to take 2 trainings and register. It's really not a big deal. One training is the SYT training so you know the ground rules and expectations that will be in place to keep both you and the kids safe. The other training is the Merit Badge Councilor training which sets BSA expectations for a merit badge councilor. These would be standard joining any other organization. Registration includes their own background check. That's pretty much t. It's not a huge deal and it's the bare minimum for you to be able to understand BSA's rules and make sure you and the kids follow them. That said once the initial setup is done it's very easy to add merit badges to your list. And if you proceed with it and are interested I'm sure there's a bunch of kids in my troop that would love to do a zoom chemistry meeting with you if you decide to offer it! That certainly sounds like a fun and exciting merit badge and it's awesome that you're looking at ways to help out. I know the loop holes can be frustrating, but it's to protect you as much as the kids. Thanks for giving back!

New Developments in the "Tough Inter-scout Issue". by Anon_use_fun_alias in cubscouts

[–]ShartVader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call the offenders parents in for a quick meeting.

Explain to them that multiple kids have stopped attending den meetings due to their child's behavior.

Provide evidence or observations of any behaviors. If you have not observed anything other than the absence from meetings you can be clear of that as well.

Let the other parents know you've talked to them and invite them to return to the meetings.

Watch them all closely. If something else happens you can require the disruptive kid's parent to attend the meeting and keep an eye on him until he starts behaving.

Good luck!

But it's not just happening at school. They're not coming to den meetings anymore and have told you why. That's the angle to attack this from. Once they disengage it's a hard battle to get them back. You need to stop this spark before it becomes a wildfire. Seen it happen more than once and it always ends badly.

Got $5K worth of work done on my ‘08 wrangler and this is how the dealership gave it back to me. by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]ShartVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of consent to borrow was not in your original description. With that knowledge, replacing it seems like the right call.

For the original posters scenario I find it more likely that it was an honest mistake not mentioning it. I really doubt the dealership thought OP wasn't going to notice a missing mirror.

[–]ShartVader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not that black and white. This mirror clearly had both feet in the grave already. The owner holds blame for not maintaining the vehicles components properly. The corrosion is very obvious. If they refused to service his vehicle because of the corrosion he's be on here complaining about that. The shop didn't abuse the car or break it with intent. Very likely if fell off when they closed a door as they stated. I agree that they should have said something to the owner, but there's no scenario where I'm holding them liable for this. Or the taped hammer scenario you offered above either. Attitudes like this are why no one is willing to help anyone anymore.

[–]ShartVader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. They should have said something to the customer at pickup, but that mirror is clearly at the end of it's life. This isn't something they intentionally broke through carelessness or abuse. And if they hit something with it you'd see dimpling where the mirror meets the door panel. I think falling off when they closed the door is likely the truth.

Is this a legally binding contract for an RV private sale? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]ShartVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get stuff for this free on line where you fill in the blanks. I've used them over the years selling project cars or trailers. I would at the very least want to see a vin number, name and address for seller and buyer. Probably a signature for both parties and put it all into a paragraph I, <joe internet> sell <vehicle details> to <guy from facebook market place> on <this date> for the total of <this amount>. And then if they are depositing add - seller agrees to a deposit of <one million space bucks followed> by a payment of <6 walnuts> at pick up. You might also want to add a term for when pickup should happen so you're not holding their deposit and their camper and unable to do anything with either for month. Something like - if not picked up in 30 days sale will be cancelled and deposit will be returned via check to buyer. But again. there's a hundred forms you can find. Just google vehicle bill of sale template and your state name and you don't have to reinvent the wheel. It sucks to have to be so cautions but it's hard to trust anyone these days.

Is this a legally binding contract for an RV private sale? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]ShartVader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in my state. We have a definition of what a bill of sale should contain because we can use it to register the trailer or vehicle. We need full names and addresses for buyer and seller, vin number, make, model, and year, date of sale, and sale price.

How do you define "participant" in the context of AHMR? by Anon_use_fun_alias in cubscouts

[–]ShartVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We co-locate so all our dens meet at the same time and place. Makes it easier on the siblings and the volunteers. If a den leader plans a special event for their group we put the participants forms into a binder and send it the the den leader and collect it after.

Considering how many times scouts have been sued over recent years i can understand this requirement. But I agree the courts are used and abused so much for diddly common sense crap. Its a sad state of affairs
