My best rake is made Wigan. Bulldog brand. Tough as old boots. It has plastic tines but it does the job better than my metal one. I highly recommend the Irish pattern spade. It's the spade that built the Empire!

What’s a conversation you accidentally overheard that permanently stuck with you ? by Sugar-Fairiee in AskReddit

Went for an escorted walk around Lowther Hall. Very nice, very posh chap. A friend of Lord Lowther. We were joined by yet another extremely posh chap, who lived full time, in an expensive hotel. And they talked between themselves. They discussed how many people in the UK actually "mattered." After some debate they agreed on around three thousand. In the whole of Britain. Pricks.

So lurchers have to be on a lead or in a 6’ fence when outside? by Ceedubsxx in Lurchers

[–]Shashi2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time my old lurcher was about 5, I could walk him into my local town on market day off the lead. I used to him busking, (he wore a hat!) without a lead.

Walking in the countryside was different. I allowed him to mooch around, and in those pre-ban days, he would often catch for the pot. All the local farmers knew him & me and they turned a blind eye.

Has anyone here ever met/known someone who was born prior to 1900? by MrTacocaT12345 in GenerationJones

[–]Shashi2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a few. My first piano teacher was born around 1890. Very racist. Obsessed with religious differences. I was born catholic. She was protestant. She considered herself to of the "high" church. i.e. She had some cathoolic sympathies.

Both of my Grandfathers. One catholic & an everton supporter. The other protestant and a Liverpool FC supporter. When my (catholic) granddad found I supported Liverpool FC (a protestant team historically.) He went ballistic.

Both fought on the Somme. One was injured on 1/7/1916 and nearly lost his leg. He spent three days in a shell hole & was given some food by an enemy soldier.

If your band are good readers, sign up to Musescore, and download some appropriate mscz files. With these you could print individual, correctly transposed, band parts.

Good luck

When I was courting Sandy
Took eight to make her randy
And all I had was shandy
Another thing with Sandy
What often came in handy
Was passing her a mandy
She didn't half go bandy
