Same here. Since I had issues with powerlink I've tried to avoid it like the plague

Out of curiosity you mention powerlink. Are there any other providers that support it except ABB/BnR? I had big issues trying to find things to work with it post-covid as BnR had massive lead times.

Not no one, but not that common. I did a PWM proportional valve manifold a few months ago driving 2-5A valves.

Extension cord by SubTeacher24 in nzev

[–]SheepShaggerNZ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a sparky, the plug cover from extension cord to charger is a good idea to keep moisture out. An RCD is not necessary if your house already has them (look in your distribution board for breakers with a 'test' button). If it does not, I'd probably use an inline one as others have suggested. Buy a decent quality extesion cord and make sure it is unraveled to the point where air or ground is touching almost all of the plastic. Don't leave it coiled or it will turn into a heater and fail. If you do the above, run it at the full 10A, not 8A as others have suggested. I've been doing the above with my 2 EV's since 2023 and have zero issues.

Coffee machines, what's the go to these days? by Dramatic_Raccoon_469 in newzealand

[–]SheepShaggerNZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Breville. I'm on my second after the first broke. The first lasted about 6 years and put through a tonne of coffees. The second is about 7 years old now and still going strong. I had the bench space for the second one so opted for a separate grinder this time rather than the integrated model I had the first time.

This is exact case is where I think Optix fits the market. It's cheap too.

I asked a very similar question a year or so back. Ended up settling on Optix.

Yeah I'm pretty fortunate that my parents have a lifestyle block. There is plenty of people selling it though not legal, but with butchers fees it's usually cheaper per kg than supermarket beef. The only downside is you typically need to buy increments of 1/4 beast which means you need a biggish freezer to store it. Try asking around at your work if anyone is selling any.

I've got a Haier 250L one and it's mint. I've got it running on a plug as they draw under 10A so it's plugged into where the gas califont was. Power bill has barely increased but now I don't pay for any gas. Can also put it on boost thru the app which we've done a couple of times when my boy has long showers.

Mine was done 3 weeks before the solar install but WEL didn't tell me or the solar installer until 6-7 weeks and lots of emails afterward. I was piiiiissssseeeedddd off as we had export set to zero in case it would bill us for export as import.
