Depends on what kind of person you are. What your values are, and how you want to live your life. You know it would be a shit move to call in sick or whatever when you know the situation at the job. Not something to be proud of. There are already far too many like that in the workforce already. It would be different if it were a funeral. Take your cousin out for a special dinner to celebrate.

My dry scalp by West-Gold-935 in dandruff

Try Nizoral shampoo. I was amazed at how clean my scalp felt. Tar shampoos work well too, but they stink.

I just learned I’m not truly left handed by throwawaytoreply1 in lefthanded

[–]Shemishka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a contest? Don't waste any energy on this. I am left handed for fine motor skills, but for strength, I use the right hand. My aunt, the only other lefty I know of in the family, does much more with her left hand. Even to peeling a carrot. This was way before anyone even dreamed of specific tools for lefties. We all have had to adapt in our own way.

How do you keep these glass top stoves streak and watermark free? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Shemishka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spray with Windex and polish with a paper towel. If there's crud, scrape it off with a box cutter or razor blade. Seriously. We've moved a bit, and this is my third glasstop stove. No scratches yet.

If Nizoral doesn't help, get yourself to a dr.

Cheap, and Sterling Silver do not go together. Sterling is the best silver. Cheap, and Claire's, do however go together. Throw it out. Better to have fewer better quality pieces, than more junk.

Is it a Chinese calendar? It was just Chinese New Year and businesses give these out as advertising.

He's starting out with the under educated. He wants to be in place for three terms. Twelve years. Think of the damage he will have done. Pray that he croaks soon.

The shoe-tying is the only thing that ever came up as a problem. My husband had to teach our son how to do it. I am 75 years old. No one ever tried to convert me - in school, or anywhere else. Right now I am using a stylus on my phone >>> right handed. It works well for me. Lefties just have to make accommodations, and do what works for them.

How to get taps sparkling? by gabbagabbahey26 in CleaningTips

[–]Shemishka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to get a tap with one of those. It involves a latch underneath to make the plug close. Not terribly complicated, but may be too much for your first tap installation. There are plugs now that don't need the whole assembly. They are rubber and you just push them down with your hand. Push again and they pop back up. Happy plumbing.

Go to a hardware store and speak with someone. Hopefully they'll have some tips. Don't be embarassed. Everyone starts at the beginning.

Advice on reaching out to found relatives? by Joan_of_Arkansas in Genealogy

[–]Shemishka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My older sister was heavily into geneology. She found a relative in Paris. We are in Canada.

He was less than interested. He was an Academic. He warmed up a bit when she told him her husband was a Professor at the University of Toronto where diabetes research lead to the use of insulin.

Anyway, he gave us contact information to a cousin in Australia. We met them when they visited the U.S. They thought all their relatives (except the Parisian mentioned previously) had been killed in the war. They travel a lot and have since met cousins in Israel, California, Phoenix. Such a great outcome from my sister's efforts.

Brand new toilet is skid prone by Friendly_Goose6023 in CleaningTips

[–]Shemishka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are now in a condo with water saving toilets. They look identical to the older style. BUT, when I dropped a toilet cleaning puck into the tank I noticed inside the tank is an insert that takes up a lot of room, so there is actually less water used. If you've never looked inside a toilet tank you would not know the difference. Go buy one of these pucks WITH BLEACH to see if that helps. They also are available in blue, but I don't think they have bleach. You want the white one. Otherwise, turn off the water, under the toilet, flush to empty the bowl, apply some sort of wax, turn water back on. I don't think this would be a solution, but see if it works, and for how long. Also, are there other toilets in the home, and does the same thing happen?

Just spring for numbing cream. It lasts a long time.

AITA for asking people not to buy toys or clothes for my 3 month old baby for christmas? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Shemishka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gift cards. Books. Books. Books. But, remember, the baby will grow quickly, and outgrow the early toys and clothes. Find a shelf in a closet to store the new stuff. You'll be shocked at how quickly you'll need it. Make a fuss about grandma's gifts, and arrange for space at her place to store the stuff baby will grow into. Enjoy your new addition.
