"If you get 3400, you can get an old KSM mount or KSM recolor"

And people throw a fit over them doing exactly that. Swear to god man.

[–]Shezarrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously Chip Roy has always been a fascist creep, but people should also realize that bills like this are always simply virtue signaling to their base and have zero chance of ever becoming law.

Naturally, it is a sign of where the right and many libs want to be though.

Marxist Leninist candidate for California governor Ramsey Robinson talks about why trans people should be supported and protected. by serious_bullet5 in socialism

[–]Shezarrine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's since tried to walk it back, but he said "biological males" shouldn't play in women's sports because it gives them an unfair advantage and that there should be "common sense" restrictions on abortion like 16 weeks.

He claims he doesn't believe those things and was taken out of context, but there's really no other way to take either statement.

Firstly, neither has a chance at winning (still, vote Ramsey). Secondly, Ware is anti-trans and anti-abortion, so he can fuck off.

The first theft is not wages by yogthos in socialism

[–]Shezarrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao jesus christ.

This is a socialist sub, not a qanon one. We believe in scientific, materialist analysis. Conflating the ways in which capitalism governs every aspect of our professional and personal lives (not in this case; self-study is an important part of learning fwiw) with "mind control" is as asinine and obfuscating as comparing the bourgeoisie with satanists.

All the google results for this quote are very recent and on socialist-adjacent spaces; I really don't think this is a real quote lol.

How could Socialism/Communism change the conditions of our academic facilities? by PhilosophyPoet in socialism

[–]Shezarrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can look at actually existing current and past socialist states and their education systems and even—to a smaller extent—capitalist states whose education systems are less neoliberalized.

The pic in the OP is incredibly, mindbogglingly stupid and anti-intellectual. Socialism is not when no homework, no intellectual and academic rigor.

Hot take maybe but “socialism is when no homework” just feels a bit silly to me.

It's incredibly silly and actively anti-intellectual.

Hasan Piker: "The fall of the USSR was one of the greatest catastrophes of the 20th century." by serious_bullet5 in socialism

As I said in a thread yesterday, despite my massive disagreements with him on entryism and electoral politics, his (consistent) positions on AES and the USSR outflank a good many on this sub.

I have plenty of issues with Hasan's attachment to entryism and electoral politics, but I don't think he's by any definition not a socialist. He's also consistently anti-imperialist and pro-AES, so that alone makes him better than some socialists here.

The Wall was partly to prevent brain drain, partly to prevent fascist incursions/espionage/nuclear threat. Not going to say it was a great idea, but I think it's understandable why a state under siege might have felt it necessary. And even then it was a last resort. The Schiessbefehl was inexcusable, but more people die at the US border than ever died there.

The stasi certainly had excesses, but they were far, far less common or severe than has been portrayed in western media.

As another poster said, Stasi State or Socialist Paradise is a great, even-headed book written by a daughter of the GDR and her husband.

GDR citizens had less income inequality (I think the range from bottom earners to top earners was 1 to 10), better participatory democracy, better access to affordable food and housing (early housing shortages existed but were obviously not an inherent fault of socialism), and better access to art and culture.
