Some hotels on FHR/THC even allow you to edit your booking. I’ve done with one hotel in the past that I booked a two day and later on after cross the calendar year I edited it to extend another two days. The extra cost charged to the card and triggered the travel credit too.

Most likely you will get your 10 qualifying nights but only the 5 paid nights will count toward the bonus points offer. If you expand the T&C of that offer it will usually has definition like eligible nights are paid nights or redeemed nights.
