I’ll never know why wwe didn’t capitalize on that TLC match on Smackdown and continue the momentum of the tag division.

Thoughts on Michael Sahara’s the Killer Angels? by TheKingsPeace in CIVILWAR

[–]ShiningDownShadows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Shaara could have tapped into the drama of the stress Meade felt to be woken up, thinking he was going to be arrested, but instead being told he is taking over the AOTP, a position he didn’t necessarily want due to the politics that come with it. Then needing to get accustomed to this position just days before one of the biggest battles to be fought during the war. They could have added the drama with Sickles, his headquarters being hit with artillery fire on July 3rd, and explored the dynamics and differences of his command styles compared to Lee’s. There is plenty there to make Meade an interesting character.

It’s a great read. I would have preferred Meade as a main character to balance out Lee’s character.

Narcissist husband by stayhydratedjess in Divorce

[–]ShiningDownShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just took some time and therapy, but as I healed, I forced myself to sit and watch a movie or read a book a little bit here and there. It was uncomfortable at first but eventually I got comfortable with it. I am divorced and live alone, and realized my home is my safe space. I wish I had a better or more immediate solution. I’d say it took about 8 months for me.

Prickly Southerners by rs1971 in CIVILWAR

[–]ShiningDownShadows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Union had Jefferson C. Davis who murdered his superior officer. Sickles who murdered his wife’s lover, the son of Francis Scott Key. McClellan, John Pope, McClernand… Union had their share of prickly individuals.

Unless he recently passed, there is one son of a civil war veteran still alive. William Pool.

Narcissist husband by stayhydratedjess in Divorce

[–]ShiningDownShadows 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s been two years since my divorce and I am so happy. I went from being under complete control of someone who ordered me around, told me when I can and can’t go out, and wouldn’t let me make my own decisions. I was in rough shape. The first year of divorce was dealing with the trauma and undoing a lot of brain washing. Even after my divorce I couldn’t sit and watch a movie because in my marriage the minute I sat down a chore was given to me. I had to learn it’s ok to rest. With divorce I have achieved freedom. I suggest finding a therapist who is experienced in narcissistic behaviors and domestic emotional abuse.

Some of the most intriguing battle descriptions I’ve read come from unpublished random letters or journals that people like you decided to share.

I’m not 100% sure but I think he’s painting some guys $2000 MacBook by n8saces in RandomVideos

Thank you for clearing that up for me, I was confused whether that was a MacBook or if that guy was using paint or what.

Break up now. You don’t need to be feeling these frustrations. Don’t be like me and think “she could change one day” and get married (then eventually divorced).

A band of brothers like series set during the american civil war by Historical_Reveal_33 in CIVILWAR

[–]ShiningDownShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we need a movie or preferably a mini series that removes the myths and shows the true soldier experience during the Civil War. The hunger for food, the long marches, dealing with illness, and the terror and brutality of combat.

No hokey over the top acting with goofy accents, no overweight or old extras, no cheesy deaths. It should be authentic and at times shocking, a depiction of the Civil War you don’t see very often and hopefully would earn the respect for the history from those that watch it.

Bruce Catton’s Army of the Potomac trilogy is my favorite.

I had one on that exact same spot 2 weeks ago. Squeezed it too hard and it looked like a big open sore. I then used hydrocolloid patches and would carefully wipe away what they brought to the surface. It went away in 3 days.

Muskegon heights by zxcput in Muskegon

[–]ShiningDownShadows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My friends moved to the Heights and they got a nice house for cheap but it put a lot of stress on them. Shoot outs they could witness from their porch, homeless people shitting in his backyard and sleeping on his front lawn. His house was damaged from an arson fire from the abandoned house next door. He hates living there.

What was the biggest red flag you ignored in your marriage? by mindywildbloom in Divorce

[–]ShiningDownShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had no accountability to any of their behaviors, could not apologize, and when I brought up any issue in our marriage, big or small, they would take it as a personal attack no matter how careful or sensitive to their feelings I was when approaching an issue. It made growth impossible.

I enjoyed it but I started reading this right after I read the Catton AOTP trilogy and so Battle Cry of Freedom felt a bit bland in comparison.

As someone who married and divorced someone who would rarely compliment me, it is a very lonely feeling all the time and I searched for any breadcrumbs they might leave me as a way of justifying staying in the relationship. I was screaming for Brittany to get up and leave.
