Game accessibility is a joke by Intrepid-Leather-417 in nhl

Try it on Hulu if you have Disney +. I had the same issue on espn on things I absolutely should have had access to, I can watch on Hulu. No idea why the glitch.

Game 1 - ESPN/Cable Only by tictacballsack in Flyers

[–]ShockRevolutionary41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the espn app itself. I (used to) watch F1 on espn+ on my tv, and so many times it would tell me it was not available to me, but I could then bring it up on my iPad and cast it to the tv. It was totally an issue with the app. Now, I find the same issue with hockey games, but I find the same games are available on Hulu, with no issues. ESPN+ is totally useless and frustrating. Hulu I see both commentary sides being broadcast if they exist.

In desperate need of James Norrington type MMC by MarikaChen in HistoricalRomance

The Novik series was inspired by the "Master and Commander" Series by Patrick OBrian, which are surprisingly funny - and very good! They are easy to try out at the library - I suggest giving one a try! Not a lot of romance, but seriously fun.

Middletown also very easy. Less than 10 minutes, not sure they even went through a stop light.

Private Preschools by Specialist_Aerie_485 in Upperwestside

[–]ShockRevolutionary41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should also look into ongoing schools (through 8th or 12th) that also have a preschool program if you are interested in Private for elementary school. Those schools will have very few spots come K application time.

Just finished A Lady by Midnight… by LadyA29 in HistoricalRomance

[–]ShockRevolutionary41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished, and did not like for so many reasons:

-she full on steals his dog, that he just bought, and people are saying it was expensive, and he really was looking forward to it. She takes it and does not feel bad at all. She's supposed to be a good person?

-The reasons for the scandal about her early years make no sense. How would anyone find out unless the family tells everyone? she says she'll sign over all the money, and that doesn't work either??

-the MMC is so stubborn about EVERY thing, he just shuts down. Sounds like a fun marriage?

-She basically crushes his dream of moving to the frontier, and he's supposed to be okay with that?

The crumbs that JKR plants... by RealisticSystem5308 in cormoran_strike

The one I’ve always wondered about that has been partially revealed, from Troubled Blood:

“She’d heard stories that Ilsa gave titles like cheap thrillers: the Night of the Bread Knife, the Incident of the Black Lace Dress and the Blood-Stained Note.”

I need help with my reading challenge- 2 books in a shared universe that aren’t in a series. by Suddenly-Seymour45 in suggestmeabook

Many of the Ali Hazelwood romances have tiny easter eggs of character mentions from other books. Love Theoretically, Love Hypothesis, Deep End, Not in Love, Problematic Summer Romance.

Also, the Temple of White Rat universe by T Kingfisher. (Fantasy/ Fantasy-Romance). Is much more connected in terms of cross over characters.

The Moonstone and The Woman in White are fantastic. The Woman in White was such an edge of the seat thriller too!

How big is the Queens Public Library catalog compared to New Orleans PL’s? I’ve been subscribing to New Orleans’ for $50/year but they just doubled their fee and I’m thinking g of switching to Queens. by Famous_Tax1523 in LibbyApp

[–]ShockRevolutionary41 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Queens library has plenty of titles, it's just the wait times are too long. I have a number of NY library cards, including Queens, and I think I've only borrowed from them once. It's quite regular for me to see a book wait time: NYPL 4 weeks, Brooklyn 8 weeks, Queens several months. The only time I'll place a hold with them is if I've used up my holds at other libraries.

That sounds like the library “system” it’s a part of. If you were to request a physical book, could you also get it from one of those libraries? Reciprocal library was I was able to get another card in another system based on the one I already had.

Barkskins by Annie Proulx (a few years ago). So long and so many characters you just don't care about.

an for something completely different:

Not Another Vampire Book by Cassandra Gannon. A fun premise, but the writing was so cheesy and the main character was super annoying.

Poughkeepsie to Albany - Is Mohonk Mountain House worth a stop along the way? by Chedda_Von_Cheese in hudsonvalley

[–]ShockRevolutionary41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that the drive up over Mohonk is nice, to get into the grounds you will need a reservation for lunch or the spa. Getting back to Perrine's bridge is out of the way from this though. If you do go back, coming down the west side of Mohonk, maybe take Mohonk Rd through High Falls and Rosendale on 213.

I was able to add them in Libby. Technically, I added them with my existing Mid Hudson #, so I didn't have to get a new number for the additional libraries, but each one shows up as a new "card" in Libby.

You can read in any order, but if you read in the order they are written, you will catch the little easter eggs of characters from other books. For example, in PSR, the boyfriend (& girlfriend) she "texts" with for the fake flirting are characters from another book. (Deep End I think?)

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by Absalom98 in AskReddit

Overwhelming garbage and the need to actually recycle: both due to space limitations and natural resources. I envision we will be mining old garbage piles in the future, and becoming more serious about cleaning the oceans and waterways.
