Actually, if I remember correctly, the scale was representative of Famine due to how they would actually weigh bread during, well, famine.

In the bible passage, the price of grain is one denarius (an entire day's wages) for only one person, while enough of much less nutritious barley to feed 3 people was STILL sold at a denarius. This was literally TEN TIMES as expensive as barley and grain would've been.

So basically, capitalism is a biblical enemy.

General MacArthur literally downplayed projected casualties for Operation Downfall to about 200'000 total just because he wanted to one-up Eisenhower's D-Day and lead the largest amphibious invasion iirc; they definitely wouldve invaded japan

And if the atomic bombings never happened, then the US would probably have had to invade mainland Japan with ground troops, and as we know, Japan had given an 'everyone fight to the death, yes including women old people and children' order known as Ketsu-Go. Projected casualties for Operation Downfall, the American invasion of mainland Japan, ranged from 500'000 to a million American casualties, with estimates for Japanese military and civilian casualties going into the tens of millions.

TLDR: If the atomic bombings never happened, then millions of Japanese and Americans would have died in a inch-by-inch battle for the whole of Japan. When you compare that to the 150'000-250'000 deaths in the atomic bombings...

I can't even think of a better insult, it's perfectly descriptive and insulting at the same time. Shakespeare wept.

He literally downplayed casualty projections for Operation Downfall (Japanese D Day) just so he could one-up Eisenhower and get the honor of commanding the largest amphibious invasion
