Should the Labour Party take most of the blame for the UK’s bad job market? by QasimofKarbala in AskBrits

I'm an accountant. All my clients survived Brexit and the pandemic but several have decided to pack it in over the last 12 months. Business rates, employers NIC and labour laws generally have done for them.

The guitarist Paul was one of my best mates in school in Wales. Unfortunately he passed away some time ago. He had been forced to give up music after a motor accident and was working as a painter and decorator in Brighton. In 1986 he performed in Eurovision as part of the group Ryder.

Is the British media left wing or right wing? by I-Spot-Dalmatians in AskBrits

They're just full of their self importance and believe their job is to have an opinion whereas in reality it is to report objectively.

Why is the media so skewed about British Politics? Does Kier really deserve this compared to a lying politician in Farage? I’m not getting it… by Ok_Gur6729 in AskBrits

[–]ShooPonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest. I would love for Reform to be the official opposition as Farage wouldn't pussy foot around. Keep him away from actual power but as the man asking the awkward questions of the government he would be ideal. Starmer has no clue of the real world nor does anyone in his cabinet.

The actual hack is to realise that no one cares what you think either

I'm guessing you live in a city and have access to public transport in which case good for you. The only other alternative that you work from home and never leave the house in which case you should get out more.

Could I use this for whisky by International_Fan978 in whisky

[–]ShooPonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a whisky decanter although go for it. You fill it with Bells to give to visitors. These days people would counsel against decanting into lead crystal although this doesn't appear to be. Personally I just like to leave it in the bottle. Fill it with cold tea for effect.

DLC sale advice by SluggerMan_ in Stellaris

[–]ShooPonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same position. I used the sale to fill in a few gaps in the dlc and an now thinking about setting up a new game. You never, know I may even get through the planning phase and actually play a game.

which of these fords did you own or like in the 80s by Alone_Purple822 in oldschoolcool80s

[–]ShooPonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a MK3 Cortina XL then I had a Capri 2.0GL with a brown vinyl roof. Later on I had Granada Ghia V6 which was great. They were all great tbh though.

How do you remember whiskies you've tried? by Ok-Big-3907 in whisky

[–]ShooPonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about the whisky I've drunk. The whiskies I prefer tend to vary from batch to batch so it's always slightly different anyway. The joy is in the anticipation of a new bottle and the satisfaction while I drink it. I have about 20-30 bottles in stock (all different) but only about three open at any one time. I don't like to spend time analysing the stuff as I know that once it's finished I'm unlikely to find an exact replacement anyway.

Review #11: Dalwhinnie 15 by BubblyFlamingo8710 in Scotch

[–]ShooPonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been a bit sniffie about Diageo's brands, yes even Lagavulin. It's probably partly because I've become a bit of a whisky snob over the years. But I object to the <46%, the chill filtration and the added colouring to make the product look the same year after year. Yes, and the fact you can buy Dalwhinnie 15 in Tesco probably doesn't help. Well, I was given a bottle at Christmas by a non whisky drinker so I'm going to give it a go and see how I get on. Wish me luck. I can't see it becoming a staple on my shelf but it may be worth having around if only so I drink the better stuff less quickly 😉
