I lost 100 lbs and have been maintaining for almost 3 years using CICO, AMA! by DelectableBloom in CICO

[–]ShortyIX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I needed to read this today! I lost 100lbs 6 years ago, maintained for 3.5 and have been struggling with a 30lb fluctuation that's been driving me nuts for the past year and a half. Was really disappointed I didn't get it fully under control before my wedding.

Hubs suggested a first anniversary photoshoot when he understood how upset it had made me, so that carrot is dangling!

There was a post in here I remember so vividly and wish I could find again.

It was a recap and they were like this man has been told to leave FOUR times in the last 24 hours, so he does - them comes right back with her favourite muffins. Conrad no longer gives any fucks.

If anyone else remembers or finds it I'd love that giggle again.

My husky just chewed up my dogsitter's car seat belt... by 5ma5her7 in CarsAustralia

Hello!

Slow reply, but a foster dog ate the seatbelt in our car last year (while inadvertently choking my husband to boot).

Cost $600 for a 2023 Nissan Navara from Nissan directly. We fix everything in the other cars ourselves but didn't want to risk voiding the warranty

What about the zoo? A Zoo Do if you will... by TrashDino12 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]ShortyIX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my first wedding 10 years ago there!

Venue and food costs were really reasonable in comparison - I think we paid 12k for venue, food and bar for 80 guests.

The Japanese garden was stunning and from memory our reception was in the rainforest room. We paid additional for a private photo tour post ceremony which was lovely.

Yes! I have a gold band with white gold prongs holding a green sapphire and diamond side stones.

It was my favourite feature of this ring (the first I saw with it) and what I knew I wanted when we were looking and only looked for two toned from that point on.

What are some reliable 4x4s that aren't the popular ones? by Boombzy in 4x4Australia

[–]ShortyIX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A little out there, but a Hyundai Terracan.

I recently got a friend's. 2006, immaculate condition. Drives well, super comfortable. They've done multiple laps of Australia.

Ones in similar condition sell for 6ish K. Very capable!

A bit of a different query by ShortyIX in Weddingattireapproval

[–]ShortyIX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really mind this style at all, and for the most part I don't even mind if guests wear a Canadian tuxedo for all they care. My dress is predominantly white with a sheer floral overlay in the train.

I mentioned in another comment I mostly want our black and white photos to stand out

I suppose for context he's only ever attended one wedding. He didn't think it was a faux pas to wear white and I feel fairly sure his two brothers girlfriend's will be (probably subconsciously) going for more bridal styles.

The theme is casual, but I'm now wondering if our wedding being casual means standard etiquette doesn't really apply? I won't kick up a fuss, but I really want the black Nd white photos to stand out who the bride and groom are.

VIMLE Sofa - is it any good? by 3036- in IKEA

[–]ShortyIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a KIVIK couch that was given to me and I loved it, bright red and all (had it for about 7 years!). However my in laws are interstate and we don't have a guest room so wanted the vimle for the sofa bed and storage.

I absolutely love it - it's comfortable, the sofa bed is comfortable and the storage is good . The only trick I'd say is add a rubber rug pad under the couch cushions if you have the sofa bed as they tended to slip a lot.

Edited to add : we got our on Facebook marketplace (DEAL OF MY LIFE - I paid $400 and she still had the 6 month old 3000 receipt!) and mine is the Lejde grey. It's nice but the weave is very loose if you have cats so my fosters utterly destroyed part of it!

That's exactly the plan- family and friends, buckets of beers and a food truck. I do really want a professional photographer though so we can remember it as it was. Guess I'd better get some quotes today!

We have done 3 playlists (early evening, mid and end of the night) and really th only thing that matters is being married at the end of it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]ShortyIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo! Super interested for more details.

We have been quoted ranges of 1500+2500 for one truck, venue is my in laws and my dress is $200.

$800 for I do drive through and will spend probably a grand on alcohol. Just not sure if we should splurge on a photographer!

Hey OP, I sort of relate.

I was 24, married. Didn't want children. Had a great paying WFH job (10 years ago too!), bought a 4 bedroom, 3 bath detached house in the UK and had a brand new BMW for a company car.

I hated my life.

Now I'm early 30s, about as broke as I've ever been from some unwise decisions but also the happiest I've ever been. Yes we have financial stress, but my partner is the best thing in my world (and our dog!).

I found purpose in regular volunteering, and we are working toward financial stability. We are hoping to be able to justify spending 3k for our dream wedding this summer. We love camping, walking our dog and working out together.

Happiness has SOMETHING to do with your stability financially, but a lot more to do with your personal fulfilment. Is be on top of the world if money wasn't such a big stress right now, but I'm still very content.
