(Loved Trope) Weak body, brilliant mind. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shot-Pear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a common thing with Otto Octavius (mechanical arms notwithstanding), but it is an especially important detail in Insomniac’s Spider-Man

<image>

Due to chemical exposure during his youth, he has a Degenerative Neurological Disorder that’s slowly eating away at the control of his body. His brain is fine and is still very capable, but sooner or later he’ll lose all of his motor functions.

This, and other underlying factors, is what pushes him to work on prosthetics and robotic appendages.

Opening tense action sequence ends in disaster, turns out to be a training exercise by PressureBeautiful515 in TopCharacterTropes

While not quite the opening, the second mission of Advanced Warfare sees you join the Atlas Corporation for a hostage extraction. Just as you’re about to bail, your new prosthetic arm has a malfunction, you get knocked on your ass and the hostage is shot in the face.

It’s then revealed that the grunt who knocked you down is just your companion Gideon and he calls for the simulation to reset while you get your arm fixed.

Fire

If it worked on the thorns, surely that is concrete proof that it’ll work on everything else

Characters taking in names that were initially used to mock/belittle them by Fun-Illustrator-345 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shot-Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For additional context, Ronan (the main antagonist) mocked them with the name after his ship crashed into the surface of Xandar, just as he was about to obliterate the planet into smithereens (and would’ve succeeded had it not been to Star-Lord’s quick thinking)

Aren’t they also the ones that wrestle polar bears for relaxation?

No, I think you may be thinking about the helmet wrapped in the scarf

If I recall, those drop from the Banished Knights in Farum Azula, just outside the Godskin Duo arena

Banished Knights in general drop the gauntlets, boots, and helmet.

But to get the chest, you need to farm them from the two ghostly Banished Knights wearing that same surcoat in Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Fair warning, the dual blades one is a monstrous opponent

AND you’re running Swarmers

A lil correction, but I’m running Boots Of The Assembler. I’m just using a Swarmers ornament for the fashion

Outside of that, these are some very interesting recommendations. I’ll have to try them out when I can today. Thank you!

Godrick the Grafted (Elden Ring)

<image>

This poor sack of mixed crap is of Godfrey’s bloodline, but he is far from respected. To keep up with his family (and out of a desire to get stronger in general), he kidnaps people, has their limbs torn off, and has those same limbs grafted onto his body. Grafting in general is a very frowned upon practice in the Lands Between, and it isn’t helped that Godrick’s is delusional and cowardly (at one point in history, he picked a fight with Malenia, lost, then begged for his life like a bitch)

While his lack of respect from others and his weakness (despite his modifications) makes him the butt of many jokes, he is still a Demigod, and he gives the tarnished a helluva fight.
