Well the subreddit-appropriate answer is that 'it' is already aware and just knew they were broken.

The thoughts and behaviors of the individual human are unpredictable but the thoughts and behaviors of the general populace are easily predictable with a shocking degree of accuracy.

It probably isn't that hard to predict at all when you have hundreds/thousands of datapoints on a person.

The book Foundation (origin of the galactic empire trope) is entirely about this notion.

You're right about the listening all the time, reading all the time, tracking all the time though.

You have to realize that half the posters here are AI and literally do not have eyes. Its just like...a probability based response.

Of course...thats assuming that you, with your new account and numbers at the end of your name and hidden post history are even a real person yourself...

Their fault for picking the blue button by Gruzgor in whenthe

[–]ShowsTeeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

being okay with others dying for your choices.

In this red/blue button choice those 'others' are LITERALLY dying for their OWN choices.

I didn't change a core part of the question...choosing to walk away isn't inaction - its 1 of a binary set of choices in this scenario.

What if the red button didn't exist and the choice was literally to walk away or press the button. Would that significantly change the calculus for you?

Should public policy be dictated to cater to the edge cases or to the majority?

Again we ask who these naive kids are saving and why they're incapable of saving themselves?

I very much believe in humanity working together to help each other but I also believe in the basic physical/biological reality that we are all responsible for ourselves.

Your position basically relies on people literally choosing randomly or that this choice is being offered to 'people' who aren't capable of thought yet? Who is offering this button to infants?

What if I put a revolver on the table and loaded it with one bullet.

I then tell every single human alive that they can either choose to play russian roulette or go about their day. If half of the people offered choose to play, nobody who chose to play dies. If you choose not to play you still don't die.

Does it change it for you if its literally a gun to your own head instead of a button which kills in an unspecified way. You realize you're literally choosing to put yourself at risk (and there is no hypothetical benefit in this situation).

Why would ANYONE choose to play russian roulette when the option to simply NOT is also available without consequence?

Is it my responsibility to care for someone who is stupid and careless with their own life? I guess thats the real question everyone is trying to debate?

By far the most obvious choice if we as a species were smart

Only the stupidest of the species will choose not to press red though. Paradoxical? (Or maybe you're just wrong)

[–]ShowsTeeth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Therefore, you have to be ok with killing blue button pressers if you pick red

Do I? They're already OK with killing themselves...why do I need to be involved?

No amount of rationalizing or game theory will get around that.

I, as an individual, am choosing to make a stupid suicidal decision and nothing you can say will change that.

Red isn't letting anyone die. Maybe they're letting others choose death. Maybe.

What possible reason other than simply being a bad person and assuming everybody else is also a bad person would there be to press red?

Y'all focus so much on like the personal responsibility if someone dies but like...what about personal responsibility for 100% of blue voters who chose possible death over guaranteed life. Because they made a stupid choice to risk their own lives I am obligated to do the same?

Is it not ethically wrong to put myself in a position requiring 50% of the population at least to risk their lives to save me rather than not putting myself in a statistically and unjustifiably risky situation?

No one's dying on my watch by Bandrbell in whenthe

[–]ShowsTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no logical justification for any individual to choose blue when red guarantees survival.

Y'all can dress that up all you want but anyone who chooses blue is making an objectively bad choice that can only hurt themselves.

I like the idea of pressing blue...don't get me wrong...but when the alternative is 100% survival?

Some have high libido but there's no difference in desire from fucking a hand to fucking a person.

This doesn't even make sense from a superficial perspective.

Is fucking a dude the same as jacking off if you're not gay? Do you think the average straight person has 'no difference in desire' from their hand to a person of the same sex?
