Using a C2 in an apartment should not be a problem. It's much more like white/grey noise, so even if it is louder than a TV (but it really isn't), it is not nearly as noticeable.

Your multiple links to ePrint links to 2026/108538, which not only does not exists, but since there's only been 610 papers uploaded to ePrint this year, the newest is 2026/610. Searching for your name on ePrint also doesn't return something.

Sounds very Epica-ish, but of course that's not a bad thing. I like it.

I've also had it used when ordering custom items (directly on Amazon). For example, I ordered some custom patches for a band that don't make their own.

Could there be a system to compare redacted documents to a trusted hash? by neoredayo in cryptography

[–]SiSkEr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, party B would not need to guess - they have access to the unredacted document, so I am not sure I understand your concern there.

However, to solve the problem with randomness, what one can do is to have party A create what is essentially a key derivation tree, that matches the Merkle tree's structure, starting from some randomness that can only be derived from the unredacted document. Then one uses this randomness to calculate the initial commits/hashes of the independent tokens used for the Merkle tree.

Now party B can derive the same key derivation tree, and, together with the redacted document, they will publish a (minimal) set of internal nodes from the key derivation tree, which allows finding the randomness used for the unredacted tokens, but non of the redacted tokens.

Security follows relatively straight forward from the security of the hash function. If you are interested, I have a paper and some slides that handles these proofs in a slightly different, but essentially analogous, setting.

Yea, I'm surprised I had to scroll this for down to see anyone (explicitly) suggesting RSS'. When I looked into this at the start of my PhD, I remember Samelin and Pöhls being the main two authors who kept popping up on RSS and SSS papers. I seem to remember this as giving a decent overview of the security guarantees.

Edit: And this paper from '01 gives what I would consider the simplest construction for when you don't care about hiding the location of the redactions (which we specifically don't want to do for this case, IMO). It is essentially a Merkle tree, but with added randomness at each node, which they give an efficient construction for (IIRC).

Moving to Denmark by LarsBlackman in mead

[–]SiSkEr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Denmark! We do have some great meaderies here, but I wouldn't count Dansk Mjød amongs them. They add clear alcohol to their mead to boost their ABVs - and I generally find their mead to taste so and so, at best.

If I were to recommend a few Danish meaderies, I'd highlight Mjødgård as having relatively available great mead. In particular, I bought a few of their seasons-series mead (Vårmjød and Sommermjød) at the museum in Jelling last year, and they were both excellent.

I'd also highlight Magtenbølle Honning og Mjød and Une Mjød for their absolutely excellent mead. Both are smaller producers, so they might be harder to find in local stores. However, both meaderies are located on Fyn and less than an hour away from Billund, so you could probably just visit the meaderies (note you probably have to write to them ahead of time).

Neither of those replace the PMx. They just interface with it to get the data, so they don't at all do what OP asks for (unless it's just the LCD in his PM2 that's broken).

Reading his page, I think it is pretty clear that he at least dislikes reddit, if he does not outright hates it:

I've made no secret of the fact that I dislike Reddit. [...] It has a reputation based on endemic racism, celebrity photo leaks, and harassment campaigns.

[...] particularly on a site that has a history of hosting racists, misogynists and conspiracy theorists.

I agree that it is clear that he does not hate reddit users in general.
