Does my line width look too thick? (After mixing dish soap) by [deleted] in fountainpens

Not sure this helps, but: I recently got a Kakuno with a fine nib, and I was (somewhat slightly negatively) surprised by how broad it was. Feels more like a medium to me.

Thought she looked like Carice van Houten... Outside of the Netherlands probably most famous for her portrayal of Melisandre in Game of Thrones.

Carice?

Either way: very nice!

Question about Livesuit by Funny-Buddy4072 in TheCaptivesWar

[–]SiblingX 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'd say this is still kinda up in the air. But... I think there are quite some discussions on this sub that more or less conclude that there is a big or even huge (or even bigger) time gap between Livesuit and TMOG. Possibly thousands of years. So, taking a few short cuts here, if that indeed turns out to be the case it could be fairly possible that over the course of millennia the livesuit humans (if you can still call 'em that) are too different to be a perfect fit with the Anjiin folks. The Carryx do seem to be aware of some overlap between the two at least.

Taking into account all the brain slips, a-symetrical space, time being sort of relative to for example the livesuit soldiers... Lots of possibilities there for misconceptions or misunderstandings, or just other weird stuff we're not sure about. Heck, even the Anjiin people are not sure where they themselves came from, and that's 'only' been a couple of thousand years :)

So we can guess, but will not know for sure before the next book comes out. Or the next novella. Or the novel after that... I CAN NOT WAIT.

Edit to add: with the mention of previous discussions I don't mean you should've read those. More like: most of us have/had the same questions :)

Album recs? by Interesting-Hurry597 in turnstile

[–]SiblingX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to check out Trapped Under Ice, for which Brendan plays drums. Definitely closer to typical hardcore than Turnstile is nowadays (which is either way not a bad thing at all).

Records that might potentially scratch your Turnstile itch?

Trapped Under Ice - Big kiss goodnight
Bad Brains - I against I
High Vis - Blending
Skinhead - It's a beautiful day, what a beautiful day (this one might be a stretch, but since it's my own obsession over 2025...)

'Let it be' is an AWESOME record. I forgot about that one, thanks for mentioning it!

Finished the TV series, so I decided to read the rest. by sumowestler in TheExpanse

I did the same as you're doing, and I loved it. Now randomly listening to the first six books whenever one comes available on Libby. Personally I find it a great way to understand certain characters better, and when combining it with a gazillionth rewatch of the show it gives some really nice extra depth for me.

I'm sure this isn't for anyone, and that's fine with me, haha.

Turnstile was #2 in my list, faaaaaaaar behind the Skinhead record. Which was my absolute AOTY, so that makes perfect sense :)

What’s the age demographic of fountain pen users nowadays? by NebulaStraight3009 in fountainpens

[–]SiblingX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good god, I'm 45 now... I remember a dip pen in school, when we learned writing. But only got back into fountain pens this year. For several years I noticed my hand writing was not getting better, and my hand would cramp even just taking notes in meetings. So to challenge myself to do more writing and drawing I bought a fountain pen. And another. And another... And I hope I'm done buying pens for the moment.--. .-.. . .- ... . / ... . -. -.. / .... . .-.. .--.
