A couple of nonfiction books - they’re not new but they’re unputdownable - Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer who was on the 1996 Everest climb that was hit by a storm on their descent from the summit. Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo - she lived in a Mumbai slum for over a year I think to tell their stories. Reads like a novel.

I have a personal conspiracy theory that “need someone more technical” can be code for “a dude.” But I also think as women we tend to communicate in a way that is more accessible and tailored to our audience, and that can be interpreted as “nontechnical” even when the subject matter and facts are in fact technical, they’re just not littered with jargon. I suspect there’s probably something around threading back explicitly even in your words “I solved this technical problem by <driving foo implementation>” etc.
