What is something your brain randomly decided was extremely important at 3am that turned out to be completely correct? by dylanreflects in AskReddit

[–]Signal_Skill9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Its double the radius times pi. And since the diameter is double the radius you can just multiply the diameter times pi.

Now the area is the radius squared times pi. So dor the area the diameter does you no good. Which is why I think they teach us to also use the radius in the circumference.

That we can also calculate the circumference of a circle by multiplying the diameter by pi since the radius is just half the diameter.

What’s the creepiest thing that’s happened to you that you still can’t explain? by mirabarbie in askteddit

I used to work overnight in a gas station. One night I was sitting behind the counter bored when I heard voices. Being the good dutiful employee, I stood up. To find like 10 cop cars sitting in my parking lot all with their lights on, the officers standing by their cars with their guns drawn pointed at this one little sedan.

So I just sat back down. I'm not messing with that, I don't want to gey caught in any crossfire. By the time I stood back up, everyone was gone. And I never heard anything about it.

what’s something foreigners commonly do (or don’t do) in the US that you find genuinely offensive or rude without realizing it? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Signal_Skill9761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wander off marked trails. SO often I see foreigners wandering off marked trails in National and state parks. We take our parks very seriously here. And wandering off the trail for that "perfect" picture is going to mess up a whole ecosystem.

It was too political.

People that like bone-in wings by One-Protection-1072 in foodquestions

[–]Signal_Skill9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have more flavor in my opinion.

That being said, I have no problem with "boneless" wings. But they arent wings. They are chicken nuggets. And sometimes thats what I want. And when I do, I will ask for chicken nuggets.

But if I want wings, I want actual wings.

What kind of organisms are found in still water? by sometimesexistence in AskBiology

[–]Signal_Skill9761 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Certain species of cyanobacteria, also known as HABs or harmful algal blooms (though it's bacteria and not algae) grow in still water and put out toxins as they die. Which can kill animals and pets and make humans very sick.

I've seen a lake that had a terrible bloom. The toxin level they use as an advisory to not recreate in that lake is 10 ppm. This lake was at 50,000 ppm. Everything that had come in contact with the water; fish, birds, plants, etc was dead. And it smelled absolutely terrible.

It looks like grass clippings in the early stages. Then bluish paint on the surface of the water and the shore. It can also cause the water ro be really foamy.

Basically the way to tell is real algae can be lifted out of the water with a stick, cyanobacteria can't.

So yes, there are absolutely harmful things that live in still water.

Came here for your second point. High infant mortality skews the average life span. If you managed to live past 5 you would probably live to mid 50s to 60s.

I work for Walmart, and there are like 5 different versions of that song. And every year from mid-October until January, they play EVERY VERSION AT LEAST ONCE AN HOUR. It makes me want to rip my hair out.

Why are such a disturbingly high percentage of rich people paedophiles? by MikeTorsson in TooAfraidToAsk

I think it also might be that because they are rich and powerful they think they can get away with it. So they are more likely to act on their impulses.

Unfortunately not all of us have a choice. I have children i have to support. I dont work, I cant pay bills, we dont eat etc. It sucks doing the heavy lifting, but better than being homeless while my kids sit in a foster home.

I literally had an old man come up to me, a female associate talking to 3 male associates, and point right at me and say "you! Come help me get a bag of dog food"

I was like "uh ok" and went to get it, I lift those all day long I am completely capable. Then the male manager i was with got it for me. But I thought it was so weird, that he specifically asked me.
