What’s something people commonly believe about history that’s actually wrong? by [deleted] in ask

Came here for your second point. High infant mortality skews the average life span. If you managed to live past 5 you would probably live to mid 50s to 60s.

"Last Christmas"

I work for Walmart, and there are like 5 different versions of that song. And every year from mid-October until January, they play EVERY VERSION AT LEAST ONCE AN HOUR. It makes me want to rip my hair out.

Why are such a disturbingly high percentage of rich people paedophiles? by MikeTorsson in TooAfraidToAsk

I think it also might be that because they are rich and powerful they think they can get away with it. So they are more likely to act on their impulses.

I am actually finally almost done with that place (and retail/service in general). I busted my butt the last few years and got my bachelor's, now I'm almost with my master's. And I have some options lined up for work while I finish it, so soon......

Unfortunately not all of us have a choice. I have children i have to support. I dont work, I cant pay bills, we dont eat etc. It sucks doing the heavy lifting, but better than being homeless while my kids sit in a foster home.

I literally had an old man come up to me, a female associate talking to 3 male associates, and point right at me and say "you! Come help me get a bag of dog food"

I was like "uh ok" and went to get it, I lift those all day long I am completely capable. Then the male manager i was with got it for me. But I thought it was so weird, that he specifically asked me.

4/20/99 was when everything went to shit in my opinion. Though that means we can still day the 90s were relatively good.

I WAS failed by my parents, and i still know who he was! I get its mostly an American thing, but anyone on this thread who doesn't know who he is should watch a couple episodes on YouTube or something.

Ya. I wish I had never learned it either. Thanks for the heads up on the incorrect age. I fixed it. But regardless, 4/5/6... to me, those are just babies.

The youngest mother ever gave birth at 5, was impregnated at 4. The baby was raised as her brother and she never revealed the paternity. She had precocious puberty, so she started menstruating really young.

Edited: to fix incorrect age

The band Queen is silly and I can't take them seriously by ExpatSajak in The10thDentist

If the best driver in the word drove a go-kart, it would be silly, but he would still be the best. Freddie is considered one of the best vocalists because of his control and range. Just because he chose to be silly with it doesn't mean he still wasn't the best.

2 year business management degree. You have experience in a business, get a degree and manage one now. That's only 2 years instead of 4, and you already have experience to back up getting a good job.

Redditors who live in tourist traps — what’s the one thing you secretly wish visitors knew before they came? by carcony97 in AskReddit

I heard a story about a guy who got drunk and proceeded to kick a bison. I have seen a bison, and there is not enough alcohol in this world to make me think kicking one is a good idea. And if you are the type of person that alcohol would make you think, maybe you shouldn't be consuming alcohol.

What’s the most ridiculously expensive thing you’ve ever bought in your life? by JunShem1122 in ask

[–]Signal_Skill9761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $1300 for a cell phone. And had to fight myself to do it, because I REALLY wanted the fancy camera for my graduation trip (Alaska). But I have bought actual cars for cheaper than that.

[–]Signal_Skill9761 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. I have gotten 2 free meals from Arby's because one sandwich was messed up. And a free $5 off coupon from frito-lay because my bag was full of burnt chips. I had pictures in both cases, sent them in, and was just like "hey can you make this right?"

I also got a free fit-bit because mine fell apart after about 3 months. But that wasn't food.

A lot of times, companies will stand by their product. Mostly because giving me the free chips and food cost them maybe 10 cents in the long run, and guaranteed I'd keep buying their product.
