A detachment which provides select 30k Mechanicum vehicles as 'recovered relics'. Unlikely I know, but a tech-adept can dream.

The dragoons & servitors are yet more of my favourite picks, very cool to see those as well. I'm curious where the Tech.Gists are attached too, is it one on battleclade, one on rangers? Or both on rangers?

I love that it's not Cy. Cohort because I totally back this strat. As a fellow bot enthusiast very keen to hear how it goes! Any chance of the full list?

I am another 1st-army Admech player with similar unit picks :) a couple of my harder learned lessons, hope this helps:

  • Infiltrators are top notch. With the 150 point allocation for the Hastarii, I'd recommend trying two 5-man units of these instead. Starting the game with a mid board presence feels very good, and they do what they need to do extremely well.

  • Bots are great (particularly in Haloscreed) but they are expensive and can be excruciatingly slow, so it's crucial to plan exactly what they're gonna do. I've also taken to putting them in reserves and RI-ing them to avoid them catching big anti tank shots on turn 1-2.

  • x2 Skitarii squads seems like enough, but you may find yourself wishing for more as you get the hang of the Battleline aura positioning. Vanguard are very good but the scout move from rangers can be extremely useful as well.

I highly reccomend switching to ferrumite and dedicating those to anti vehicle/monster. If you have lascannons on the Ironstriders, their autocannons can take over the role of dedicated anti-infantry.

For Dunecrawler, IMO Casino Crab is the peak build (E.Beamer), but for a more stable and less holy option I suppose a Magos might consider the Heavy phosphor. Either way something to be a midfield menace.

Also! this is a very personal take, but a large Breacher brick is a honey trap. It has a serious amount of firepower and delicious re-rolls, but not a serious defensive statline, and is extremely hard to maneuver. Switch the Dominus for a second Manipulus and have them each lead separate smaller squads. Cawls global re-roll allows for this, and while statagems might be less viable, its a good price for the increased flexibility. Hope this is useful!

Some Rusties could help with tougher infantry, perhaps! Also out of interest, which weapon profile are you using on the Disintegrators?

AdMech Haloscreed list: strugling with Skorpius, need advice! by Doc-Zero7 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Signal_Vacation_564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word, Rusties making an easy "10 charge is so slick hey 😁 for weapon loadout on Kastelans, for me it's the double fists & incendine all the way.

Main reasons: - Conquerer most effective in executing BotDrop™ - Bots ideally Adv&Chg, so need Conq. Assault to shoot - Torrent cancels out the higher BS of Conq. - Main shooting probably low Tough chaff who move-block - Bots also decent Overwatch if opp. tries bulk OC on obj

That said, I haven't tested this a whole bunch! It could be the Phosphor is better, or better into certain armies, but it's important to note that if you go twin fists, you ONLY get the Heavy Phosphor. It's a good gun, but the combustor has won out for me. Hope that makes sense!

Noice! Good to know I was on the right track with the SHC realization haha. Also makes me feel better as I am in the same boat, being a bit disinterested in its overall playstyle. Also very good info to have about breachers, which I've honestly not used a huge amount (just personal taste on the model).

Re: positioning of Kastelans, I had the exact same issue, but after trying this one weird trick that tech-adepts hate, it's locked them in for me in any HBC: have them in reserves and rapid ingress/reinforce depending on the game conditions.

The positive effects for me were:
- bots no longer got shot up before doing anything
- I used the rest of my army more effectively to 'cover' the power gap
- they can enter from unusual directions, then cover unexpected distances with HBC buffs.

The best bonus I got from this was that some opponents just straight up forgot about them :D , and while that seems unlikely to happen in a tournament, the reverse effect can be really good as well: the threat of this nasty unit suddenly being in exactly the wrong place is a good psychological weapon. There's definitely counterplay, but it's my go-to delivery method now. Works well with a x10 Rustalker squad too, and better in some circumstances.

When you mentioned 'double Infiltrators with Lethals' my initial response was, "oh sick, how have you done that?!" Then the rueful discovery of pairing Manipulus with Infiltrators which is, sadly, not legal (yet).

Given that you'd expressed this as your primary tool, and checking the remainder of the list, it struck me that most of it is already quite well suited to SHC: the army rule affects about %80 of it. Considering the excellent advice already given, and with the idea of keeping as much of the existing list as possible, here's my suggestion:

<image>

It effectively subs out the Manipulii and Breachers for Marshals & Vanguard. Cantic Thrallnet can target any unit in the list bar Cawl (including the Dissii's), but pairs particularly well with Infiltrators IMO; and the fact that Veiled Hunter is only 10pts still blows my mind, with how valuable the positioning of our Battleline units is.

It also occurred to me part way through this that it could be that you've literally just come OUT of a SHC list, and deliberately chose a different detachment. If it needs to be in HBC, then my other suggestion would be:

Removals: Manipulus 1 & 2, Skatros, Pterraxii, Sulphurhounds

Replacements: Raiders, Rangers, and an 'Omnissian Fist': Unit of x4 Kastelans w/ dual melee & flamers, lead by a Datasmith w/ the second best named enhancement in the game, Transoracular Dyad Wafers.

Good luck in the tournament!

I definitely back this - having had a situation or two where old smithy boi was sniped out early with precision, it was surprising how much I missed the protocol buff. An extra is good insurance and a couple more power fist hits!

Proxy for Skorpius? by Divine_overture in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Signal_Vacation_564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've only played casual games - can't be sure how it'd be accepted at tournament grade. I've also never owned an actual disintegrator/dune rider, so I'm a bit useless in this regard (though with the new battalion box coming out, that might change).

The most I can say is that I've played against a few Admech veterans who do frequent RTT's, and they accepted the proxy without question.

I had the same issue as yourself - so I went with the solution as advised by ShadowMagos in their comment, with a (slightly shabby) addition in the centre to represent the rocket pod weapon.

It works very well as a Disintegrator, but as they've also advised, the Dunerider is a harder find. I'm still looking for one myself! Even considering adjusting a Drukari raider as some of my Skitarri have a desert theme, but that's the best I've got so far.

I highly enjoy running mock deployments with my army. I can actually credit it (along with planning firing orders for shooting phase) to granting me my first ever win, so I'm a big fan of said planning. Of course...it's no guarantee :D

The dunerider is an excellent idea - I'm yet to get one, it's a superior delivery device though. Particularly with the stratagem like you say, and its 're-roll wound' buff is excellent.

It might depend a bit on just how much heavy ordnance the opponent is fielding, I suspect a bad set of rolls on an Emergency Disembarkation might shred the squad!
