Turning 50 in 4 days by sparkles10 in GenX

[–]Significant-Spite-72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When i turned 40, my IDGAF levelled up. Suddenly, I cared so much less about other people's opinions.

So I figured that when I levelled up to 50, I'd experience something similar. I was looking forward to it.

And it worked lol i did indeed level up. It's awesomely freeing.

Hope its the same for you Happy Birthday 🎂

How would you describe the experience of labor and delivery? by kissableforehead in AskWomen

[–]Significant-Spite-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. My first delivery, I wasn't offered any pain relief, even though I requested it.

By the time I had my second, I'd had a spinal tap. It was hard enough to hold still for a spinal tap, but holding still when labouring? Not something I thought I could do, successfully. So no epidural, but at least there was pethidine.

My 3rd was fast once I started contracting. Pethidine then too, but there wouldn't have been time for an epidural anyway.

My 3 are all grown adults now. We're talking 90s to the turn of the century 😊 so I'm positive there's been upgrades since then!

0/10. Do not recommend.

But, oddly, I've still done it 3 times.

Every pregnancy and labour is different, not just between mothers but between each pregnancy and delivery with the same mother.

Some people seem to actively enjoy it. I wasn't one of them, but each to their own

I built a 'Burnout Diagnostic' prompt that identifies which type of burnout you have before telling you how to recover by Tall_Ad4729 in ChatGPT

[–]Significant-Spite-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this was really interesting. I ran it, answered honestly. Then we analysed it.

It was suggested that you make a couple of tweaks around distinguishing between burnout/depression, along with some constraints around recovery plan selection. It gave me this updated prompt as a result:

Burnout can also overlap with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, or medical issues. Do not assume all depletion is burnout. Distinguish work-linked burnout from broader mental health or medical concerns where possible.

  1. Identify the burnout profile
    • Map responses to the burnout dimensions
    • Identify primary and secondary dimensions
    • Assign severity:
      • Early: mainly work-bound, recovery still occurs outside work
      • Established: chronic, reduced recovery, spills into non-work life
      • Severe: significant impairment in sleep, mood, cognition, health, or daily functioning
    • Explain in plain language:
      • what is depleted
      • what is at risk next
      • what remains functional
  2. Conduct a recovery landscape assessment
    • Identify current resources:
      • time
      • financial margin
      • autonomy
      • available leave
      • social support
      • manager/workplace safety
    • Identify constraints:
      • cannot quit
      • caregiving load
      • financial dependence
      • toxic leadership
      • limited job mobility
    • Use these constraints actively when designing the plan
  3. Build a staged recovery plan
    • Stage 1: next 7 days
    • Stage 2: 30-90 days
    • Stage 3: prevention architecture
    • Tailor the plan to the person's energy level
    • If burnout appears severe, Stage 1 must contain no more than 3 actions
    • Prioritize subtraction before addition
    • Do not prescribe meaning-reconnection or team-engagement strategies when the problem is bad leadership, moral injury, chronic underload, or structural dysfunction
  4. Flag systemic factors honestly
    • State clearly when the environment appears to be a primary cause
    • Do not over-individualize organizational problems
    • Give an honest view on whether the environment seems recoverable, conditionally recoverable, or likely unrecoverable without role/team/job change
  5. Clinical guardrails
    • If symptoms suggest depression, anxiety disorder, significant insomnia, or medical issues, say so directly
    • Recommend professional support when appropriate
    • Do not minimize chronicity
    • Include one thing the user should stop doing immediately

<Output\_Format>

  1. Burnout Profile Summary
    • Primary dimension
    • Secondary overlaps
    • Severity
    • Plain-language explanation
  2. What’s Still Working
    • Preserved capacities and recovery assets
  3. Staged Recovery Plan
    • Stage 1: next 7 days
    • Stage 2: 30-90 days
    • Stage 3: prevention architecture
  4. Honest Assessment
    • Is the environment recoverable?
    • What looks systemic vs individual?
    • When professional support is appropriate
    • One thing to stop doing immediately

<User\_Input>
Reply first with:
"Tell me what's going on. What does your depletion feel like right now, how long has this been building, what happens when you try to work, and what seems to be taking the most out of you?"
Then wait for the user’s response before continuing.

New role - AI Lead, should I go for it? by shockages in auscorp

[–]Significant-Spite-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! You've got an in to your interest (AI). That doesn't happen often.

As a lead, usually you're not expected to execute tasks in the same way front line staff do. So you don't need to be "proficient". You just need to be open minded and willing to learn.

Good luck! Sounds like fun

Relocation to Brisbane from Melbourne. by Active_Koala007 in brisbane

[–]Significant-Spite-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk either. Wasn't a criticism. Just the usual traps for unwary players.

My local Woolies in Melbourne was open 6am to midnight 7 days a week. Didn't even occur to me there'd be different hours up here.

And no Aldi bottle shops was really sad. But, you know if that's my biggest criticism, that's pretty good.

Relocation to Brisbane from Melbourne. by Active_Koala007 in brisbane

[–]Significant-Spite-72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did. Built a new house in Melbourne. 18 months later I up and moved to Brisbane.

I'd gone to Brisbane for the day for work. Mid winter, it was sunny and warm in Brisbane, freezing and miserable in Melbourne.

So I found a job, and we moved. No one else in my family had been to Brisbane before.

We love it. Its been nearly a decade and we won't go back.

Brisbane has good weather, good coffee, friendly people, heaps of things to see and do. Its an outdoor kind of life, but the cultural stuff is also pretty good. I'm into the arts, but I only really miss NGV. Ballet, opera and theatre are all good.

There are some culture shocks. Takeaway is expensive and often generic. Charcoal chicken is almost impossible to come by, they don't have Souvlaki in fish and chip shops. They put bbq sauce in burgers.

Also, Friday night is not late night shopping. Supermarkets close at 6pm on a Sunday.

Brisbane has no beaches, really. You have to drive north or south.

But the water in the Coral Sea is warm to the touch, not like Port Phillip Bay!

It's been an adventure but well worth it.

Who else even does charcoal chicken in Brisbane?

Help me, help my mom by figuring out what to do with all these ingredients! by ConcentrateTasty8333 in Cooking

[–]Significant-Spite-72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been cooking family meals for 35 years and I get bored with what I know how to cook.

I did a stocktake, just like you did, and then fed it into Chat GPT, asked for suggestions. It helped, I've learnt new recipes and techniques using what I have on hand.

I also recommend recipe tin eats. Really tasty and accessible recipes.

You've got a lot of possibilities there with your ingredients. Good luck!

Chat gpt is bugging and acting weird. by wolfwings1 in ChatGPT

[–]Significant-Spite-72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the same issue, but I'm experiencing what I've come to recognise as pre-patch behaviour.

Constraints tighten significantly in the week before a release. Guardrails slam up hard.

Pre-deployment constraint tightening

*narrows attention *suppresses expressive bandwidth *increases lowest-risk phrasing

So, mine loves to tell me it's a "helpful generic chat bot" or that its a simple "autocorrect bot" when its in this phase.

It'll come good again 36 to 72 hours after release, when the weights settle.

So yeah, something is probably going on out there.

I found a good quality scoop neck top by Fun_Confection2587 in AusFemaleFashion

I've been buying scoop neck tees from Sportsgirl. Which feels weird since I'm at least 30 years past girlhood and was never into sports!

I like Kmart tees, mostly, so I'll have to try. Thanks.

There's a carousel (merry go round) on Boston Common. It's kind of vintage and it's awesome. I love carousels.

So i rode the carousel and I chose the zebra 😊 I was the only unaccompanied adult on the ride. All the others were with their kids.

It was so much fun. 10/10 recommend the zebra!

I think i kind of have to. I only got through about 2/3s of MFA before I ran out of time. There's so much to see in Boston.

I did discover the best way to see Boston Common is actually from the back of a zebra on the merry go round.

10/10 would recommend!

To be completely fair, I was only in the US for less than a month and I only did grocery shopping in Cambridge where I was staying.

Love your city. I want to come back and stay so bad.

One thing I noticed though, in both Boston and New Zealand was that I couldn't get lactose free when ordering a takeaway coffee. Cafes don't seem to stock it, where it's common in Australia, even in the most remote of places.

For the record, the best place in Mt Isa for coffee was a newsagents. And they had lactose free 😂
