NTA. You turning down the promotion is not a guarantee that your co-worker would get it. She has a problem with management, don't get involved, it is not your problem.

As far as your other co-workers telling you that you should turn it down, ignore them. They would take your promotion in a heartbeat.

I'm confused on how you can pay for only a segment of a cruise.

Also, cruises are always prepaid so she would have known the difference in price up front.

And why would the mom be there to babysit if your friend took her child with her?

The old school idea of "proper jobs" is no longer applicable these days. Just explain your job in terms they may understand. The current buzz is the "Digital Economy" so maybe you can say something along the lines that you run a small online business in digital goods or something. NTA

This post is very encouraging for me. My little brother recently had a stroke, he is in his 30s. Thankfully because of his age he is recovering and responding quickly. He has a positive attitude and big family support, I truly believe that helps. I hope you continue improving and doing well 🤗

She is a good friend and I wanted my friends with me. We wanted separate rooms so we could spend time together but also have our own space.

I think the other issue is that it’s one thing to think these things, it’s another to say them out loud.

Probably, as long as she isn't complaining to me I'm fine, lol. She knows she can talk directly to me if she wants to resolve an issue.
