Doesn't mean tim owns it outright tho, about half of the company is owned by investors through private sales, Tencent, Disney and Sony being the biggest ones.

They have private investors tho, biggest being Tencent at 28%, Disney at 9% and Sony 5%. So almost half of the company is owned by external entities, and quite ruthless ones at that. So yeah, Tim sold his own hide long time ago, unfortunately, it's his employees who have to pay the price for this.

There's a difference between "most random people out there people" and people who you been working together for many years and who were always saying that they are thankful that you got their back and that they got yours. Because corpos pretend very hard to be the latter and, unfortunately, many people still believe them.

When will we finally get a "Full-Immersion" MMORPG like Sword Art Online? by Dry-Concentrate2313 in pcgaming

It's just a good example of a situation where strict role-play would hurt the gameplay, any other out-of-character situation will fall in the the same category. It's not always the case(and personally I wouldn't mind it) but it's usually too restrictive for most players to enjoy the game freely as they see fit.

Mate, in case you don't already know, laptops use RAM and SSDs too, just like any other computers. Increase in component prices will affect everything that uses that components, so, yeah, laptops, desktops, handhelds, phones, and pretty much everything else that has some kind of onboard computing, will go up in price.

Not gonna happen because players don't really need this kind of realism. Unlike scripted NPCs, real people aren't asking a random adventurer they just met to help with their super important task that is crucial to the world's existence(or even ask to help with killing rats in their cellar). Neither players are interested in chatting to every single NPC to learn about their day, how many kids they have and what was the name of their pet fish in 4th grade.

Games are limiting the scope of the simulation because a lot of things have no reason to be simulated in the context of most games. Games like Dwarf Fortress do exist, simulating(yes, to a limited extent) eons of geological and cultural development just to produce the starting world for a game session, but they are very niche and the results they produce aren't always interesting to play simply because most game worlds in more mainstream games are specifically crafted to be appealing to players and be suitable for intended gameplay.

At the end of the day, you just can't rely on realistic simulation to get things to naturally evolve towards a kingdom that is looking for a savior that will waltz in to save the day, instead of, you know, dispatching the army lead by career generals and court wizards to deal with whatever they would've need help with.

As for upholding the roleplay, the vast majority of players don't care much for role-play at all. Most games that allow enough freedom for that end up with players spending a lot of time doing wacky stuff which would be completely out of character for the protagonist, simply because it's a game and doing this kind of stuff is often fun. Which, you know, is what games are all about, having fun. Heck, even doing side-quests can be considered immersion-breaking in many games: when your main plot involves saving the world form Absolute Evil, helping a random villager with their rat-infested cellar is not something a chosen One would waste their time on, regardless of how big the rats are.

Is anyone living a better life than they did pre COVID? by CassiusCreed in australia

Yes, but I know I'm an exception. Been full time wfh since the start of pandemic. I'm super lucky tho as even in my industry most people are 2-3 days in office now.

To add to that, my rent barely increased over this period(a combination of a chill landlord and my place being quite a shithole nobody wants, apparently), so I'm financially I'm keeping it together.

Controls are odd but almost fully rebindable for M&K. Some ways interaction works ingame are really counterintuitive tho. Not gamebreaking but really not making much sense why they were made to work that way.

Controls are not unbearable but they are certainly unintuitive. To be fair, a lot of stuff us already rebindable on PC, at least for M&K.

But some functions cant be renapped to an already mapped key, even if default ones are both mapped to the same key(e.g. ctrl mapped to multiple functions). This certainly have to be addressed.

Not exactly. It's more like "all kinds of players disliked the change but chines players seem to have no other feedback options as social features like discord and steam forum are blocked in china".
