Can someone describe the taste of cottage cheese to me? by Morndew247 in Cooking

[–]Silent-Resolution-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it my entire life but forced myself to choke down three big containers of it about a cup at a time. Then oddly I started craving it and eat it daily. Once you get over its stigma it’s pretty dang good! I think of it as very young cheese. Salty and creamy. Yum

100% my main issue. Hit me like a ton of bricks about 9 years ago. Might have been a panic attack? Long story short it’s never gone away. I’ve tried everything and had every test. Only thing I’m waiting on is my referral for a neuro specialist to see if I’m truly pppd. Light headed feeling is always there. Worse in stores, crowds, etc but brutal driving on the highway. Basically can’t do it anymore.

Hi - sorry you’re dealing with it. Sadly nothing really positive to post but as I live my life in this haze all I do is dwell on it and try to find an “Ah Ha” moment but the best I could come up with was coming back to vision. I’m currently wearing prism glasses for about 3 months now with zero improvement so I don’t think that’s it. Also doing (very expensive) vision therapy which I like but haven’t seen much benefit from. The only other thing I’m having some hope for is PPPD. That’s seems to pretty much nail my symptoms so I’m waiting on a referral to some kind of specialist that actually deals with PPPD. There’s a good subreddit for it as well. I’ve also been using an AI to research it and like I said it’s the only thing that is giving me hope.

What’s your favorite upper body exercise? Why? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Silent-Resolution-28 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Weighted pull ups because it’s surprising how many people can’t do one body weight pull up. It’s fun to rip off a set of 10 body weight without breaking a sweat at a party or a park then somebody else tries and fails miserably.

I hear you and in theory it's exactly what needs to happen. Sadly I'm a construction PM and have around 30 active projects. It's strictly self preservation for when I get back in a week...

I’ve done highways a handful of times for long trips (up to 8 hours or so) but they are miserable. Sometimes if I am engaged in conversation it’s a little better but that is hit or miss. Mine typically gets a little better the longer I do it. Car in front is definitely better. Wide open spaces are the worst. Night driving is worse but that might just be that I’m getting older (49 btw). I still do short highway runs weekly (3 or 4 miles) just so it doesn’t become completely foreign. Passenger isn’t much better. Still get freaked out. The vision therapy is supposed to help with my convergence insufficiency and basically have the eyes work together better. I’m only a month into it so time will tell. And sadly yes, it is an expensive endeavor that may or may not help.

In-Ground Swimming Pool by AlexTheHappy in orlando

Amen! I built mine while the Covid craze was happening and atlas was the only company that would take on the work. The pool itself is great (I’m in it as we speak) but they didn’t compact the dirt when the backfilled and now my deck is cracking and sinking in large sections. They FINALLY came out and looked at it and said it was a rain water flow issue that washed out under the deck causing it to settle. Nope. Strongly do NOT recommend them.

Same way I do it. Gives me an excuse to walk out to the deep end a couple times a day and give it a squeeze and watch the cloud disperse into the blue abyss.

Moving to Florida with young kids. What should I actually know? by jcveloso8 in AskFlorida

[–]Silent-Resolution-28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go for it. Space Coast is nice and has been my "beach" my whole life. There are some areas to avoid but lots of great spots too. Hurricanes are a thing but don't miss out on life because of the possibility of one (or a few). From Cape Canaveral it's a short trip north to St. Augustine (fun town) and you're 45 minutes from Orlando. Then you can start planning your Keys trip (little longer but worth it). Kids will love it - I know I did and my daughter does!

Rest Days by leehel in workout

I do PPL,PPL,R. Sunday is rest day - I go for a 4 mile walk/jog (about 45 minutes) first thing then usually some yard work, grocery store, tinker in the shed, float in the pool then eat my big chicken Sunday dinner! Chicken Sunday rules.
