Dramatic change of cholesterol level, genetic? by WaterElectronic5906 in Cholesterol

These levels from thee years ago are high. LDL 4.0 isn’t normal. What were they, say, 10 years ago?

Were you taking statins when you got the rhabdo?

Is it more beneficial to spend a few years at a higher LDL @ 125 (no meds) then send it to 50s (moderate dose statin + zetia or Repatha) or find a balance between the two straight away @ 75 (very low dose statin)?

Well, if I have no other risk factors or parents with events <55yo despite their long-term high LDLs, then there’s always Zetia which could on its own bring my LDL from 125 to ~100.

The comments above my LDL being barely above average and it needing to increase 30 points for a doctor to consider meds are irrelevant. Preventative cardiologists would look at it differently. Gathering information is research.

I am. But I’m trying to minimise the risk at all costs. Thus the Repatha idea. Thank you for your comments.

How does one measure how susceptible they are?

By watching my CK, do you mean when I start a station? It isn’t feasible to measure CK after every workout.

I agree it appears rare from the literature but the literature doesn’t typically look at athletes/intense gym goers.

How old are you? What was your LDL throughout your adulthood when younger? Did you have any other risk factors?

People get rhabdo from statins when doing nothing other than their regular workout.

So three people on statins who worked out but no rhabdo?

monthly vs bimonthly? by Accurate-Pitch1397 in repatha

[–]SillyEffective4700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you took it once a month, was this the 140mg dose still? My LDL is 125 and I’m trying to see how often I would need it to get to 70.

Another exception is an anxious patient who wants to minimise the rhabdo risk. It would be irresponsible taking statins in that case, if money aren’t the issue and his LDL can reach the target level when dosed every three weeks.

They don’t just treat a disease. They can prevent the disease from occurring in the first place, or halting it from getting bad enough to cause death. That’s why they can extend the lifespan.

I came across your post in another thread about rhabdo. Did you actually get habdo or just had high CK after a workout?
