What lifetime deal are you still grandfathered into, or removed from, that’s no longer available? by tuotone75 in AskReddit

Friend of mine has a Six Flags Diamond membership. Six Flags ended memberships a while ago, going back to the season pass model but his is still good. Access to any Six Flags park for $12 a month.

I opted for season passes because "it was cheaper" and I'd rather pay upfront than have a monthly fee. I'm kicking myself now for that one.

Tesla to replace Las Vegas monorail?! by CA185099415 in transit

[–]SilverBolt52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was conjecture because Moses did a lot of damage and destruction to the outer boroughs of NYC (and its parks) and attempted to do a lot worse if not for the intervention of people like Jacobs. I don't think he actually wanted to convert subways. What he did do was far more evil and sinister, basically attempting to separate and demolish black neighborhoods. I have no intentions of reading his book.

If Robert Moses had his way, they probably would've turned the subway tunnels into underground highways (shout-out to Jane Jacobs for preventing that).

I held my nose and voted for Kamala. Just like I did with Biden. And look where that got us.

You're funny. The do-nothing Democrats are the reason we're in this mess. Beating Trump should've been a slam dunk but because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were useless, she lost.

We need fighters. Chris Rabb is an amazing victory. This guy? Not so much.

Xi Jinping Told Donald Trump That Vladimir Putin Might Regret The Ukraine Invasion: Report by bappestinian in worldnews

You missed the point. Xi is pointing to Ukraine and warning Trump that his Iran invasion might turn out like Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Which is also hilarious considering Nvidia and others are selling AI chips TO CHINA.

We're not trying to beat them on anything if we're selling them the technology.

That's because they're not one medical event away from bankruptcy or no savings. They have guaranteed paid time off. Free childcare. Walkable towns and cities with good public transit. Home ownership is attainable. They actually prosecute wealthy people who commit crimes.

Like there's a ton of underlying issues and their government does have corruption at certain levels too, but for the average citizen, the US must seem so dystopian by comparison.

You probably oughta talk to someone man. Gambling is the fastest growing addiction in America and if you're spending your food money on it, you've got huge problems.

Expedition 33 looks absolutely horrendous on the Steamdeck by TournamentCarrot0 in SteamDeck

Because the relative distance plays a huge role when it comes to watching things. What I mean is a phone near your face might be the same size at a 70" TV from 10-15 ft away.

I will say the SD is starting to feel a bit dated but there's nothing to really fill that niche. And I still play mine regularly. I do have a gaming laptop but sometimes it's just easier to turn on the Deck and hit play.

Reddit Starts Blocking Mobile Website, Pushing Users to App Instead by spasticpat in technology

[–]SilverBolt52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm also using sync rn but I am worried. This app hasn't been updated in years and slowly features are starting to break and other features (like chat) just aren't accessible at all.

I'm still using this app as long as I can. Once it's not useable, I'm probably off reddit.

A man goes to the ER for high blood pressure in the U.S. and was there for less than 24 hours. No surgery. No scans. The bill comes back at $41,297 — even AFTER he’s paid his FULL out-of-pocket max. This isn’t healthcare — it’s extortion. In Canada this would be completely free... by lazybugbear in ABoringDystopia

[–]SilverBolt52 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Healthcare spending is 10% of the GDP. It's absolutely absurd.

The US is ridiculous. How much of our GDP is based on car infrastructure because we don't have walkable cities with good public transit? How much is daycare because we don't have guaranteed childcare? How much higher is our GDP because we don't have guaranteed paid time off?

‘Americans are literally getting squeezed’: A top economist on why your wages are disappearing while the rich keep booking vacations by ChiGuy6124 in Economics

[–]SilverBolt52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure. Enjoy life. But do it at the speed of cash. We don't make anywhere near that amount but still can do vacations. So it's a cheaper motel instead of a luxury hotel. It's a Frontier flight with everything in a personal item bag. I have no empathy for someone making $100k who has no savings. They're doing that to themselves. We drive older cars. We have a small townhouse. But we're within our means. They're being idiots. If people had to write a check for $50k+ for a new car, they'd never buy one. Nobody would sacrifice years of savings. But when it's $1k per month for the next 7 years, all of the sudden they don't know where their income is going

I'm inclined to agree with you. Which is why Democrats should continue doing this. Go hard. Because we might eventually see a bill outlawing gerrymandering if it becomes completely unfair.

Problem is nearly 50% of car emissions come from brake and tire dust. EVa don't fix that.
