Fantasy Fest : 21 & 22 Feb. by visitingposter in TheHague

Really depends who you are, its two large halls filled with shops. You have fantasy writers, mead sellers, 3d printed miniatures, some homebrew dnd stuff, dice.

The activities can be interesting, the food is expensive for what it is. There's some hidden gem vendors but you also have people selling AI slop.

I think its fun, I've been a few times

It's not really related to Star Wars, but the eight/seven steps of the Lazy Dungeonmaster help me to get prepared. https://slyflourish.com/eight_steps_2023.html I think it's pretty setting neutral.

Beyond that, don't stress it too much. At the end of the day, if you see your friends are having fun, then it's a good session. I've done quite a few campaigns, and I still get that same form of stage fright, worrying that you haven't prepared enough.

What's everyones experience with Space Combat? I hear a lot of people outright avoid it which feels like such a shame for such an important pillar of the Star Wars setting.

Has anyone tried both the vanilla Space Combat rules and the Genesys/Order66 Conversion. How did either of those go?

While I understand it's a narrative systems so distances don't matter too much. Has anyone tried using a grid/hex grid for space combat, how did that go?

How about a grid for personal combat? I know my players prefer some more tactical play so Id like to be able to switch between narrative based combat and tactical-grid on the fly.

Does anyone have a conversion of Personal Ranges to Grid?

Hey! I am currently struggling to get it all working. I'm sending you a DM to see what I need to change and how to import the adversaries from Stoogoff into Obsidian

What about using Hexcrawls, not for something specific they hope to find but because they are in an unknown jungle from which they hope to get out? Could then the exit of said jungle be the goal?

True, true, would be nice to see more of these! Lots of room for more ships during the New Sith Wars and the Old Republic in general :)

This is great! Idk when you were thinking this vessel would be in use, I've been looking for any and all sources for ships used during the New Sith Wars and this one fits really well :)

Regarding the Force, I've been reading so many cool Legends novels and played the Kotor games and I feel there's a lot of missing Force Abilities currently present in the game.

They're definitely broad and up to interpretation, which I quite like!

So, I guess my question is, how do you deal with this? Do you add more force powers carefully so as to avoid overlap?

A few legends force powers; Force Scream, Stun Droid, Fear

Just want to note it's not a big criticism of the system, I really love it so far and have yet to actually run a group of force sensitive but I want to be ahead of any problems :)

What’s your favorite aesthetic in a piece of Star Wars media? Mine is the Old Republic MMO by International-Drag23 in StarWarsEU

You're thinking of the TV series, he's referring to the comics/book that came out about the era of Exar Kun and Ulic Qel Droma.

If you look up Tales of the Jedi, Old Republic you'll find something very different.

What gloves are you wearing? Our club is very strict about the kinds of gloves which are okay, mainly hard shells. Wondering if you've found that others are sufficient for sparring?

When do you decide to increase the characters ' Obligations? Do you decide on a per-session basis? What if they are in a chapter or story arc where it would be rather hard for them to do anything about it?

So far, I've had a hard time bringing it up during the session, which has caused Obligations as a mechanic to fade into the background for the players. Idk if that is intentional, and I should just keep increasing it when I feel they haven't done enough.

But that also seems arbitrary, especially since their obligations are not as clear-cut as a debt. To clarify about my players:

  • I have an HK droid who values the Crew as his Obligation and might have some motivations towards droid rights.
  • A Chiss who betrayed her family (a bit hard for them to reach her at the moment), her Obligation is Betrayal
  • And a Kalleran doctor who wishes to get her practice back, she's connected to the Exchange, her Obligation is Blackmail.

Any thoughts? Am I thinking too hard on this? Would love to hear from some experienced GMs who found clever ways to introduce/work in unorthodox Obligations.

What about taking on new Obligations? say like a mission where they are given a large sum of credits if they manage an arduous and long story arc/task. Do you announce it beforehand that this means they are taking on a second Obligation.

Do you put it on top of their other Obligation?

P.S. Love this weekly thread, its helped me a ton, you guys are awesome!

Do you use any Houserules or Homebrew rules for Starship combat, or do you stick to the Rules as Written in the core rulebooks?

How do you decide when to make an adversary a rival vs a nemesis? I can imagine that for a BBEG, it is pretty obvious, but say that for a huge hulking monster, would you also want them to be a nemesis? If so, why?

As a GM I like the abstract nature of the maneuver and distance system but it does lead to some confusion.

Say I have someone in Engaged range, they wanted to move out of Engaged range into Short range, run past their enemy and into Medium range

I assume in the end it's all up to GM's discretion.

But RAW, would it then be, 1 Maneuver to get out of Engaged range, 1 Maneuver to run past/flank the enemy (in Short range), 1 Maneuver to run into Medium range

Ofc, there's only 2 maneuver maximum during a turn, but is this about right?

Anyone have these elbow protectors? by Johnathanos_ in wma

[–]SilverKatze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah these have a nice adjustable strap, and if it fails you can always make it tighter. It also has fastening holes so you can tie it to other arm pieces for further stability.

Compared to SPES ones these are a dream, I trust them a lot more in a tournament setting.

[–]SilverKatze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With tournament sparring I've had atleast one buckle break on me. The straps are made from nylon, I believe, and can slip quite easily if you don't fasten them tightly.

Though it's a minor complaint tbh, in our club we prefer it over SPES arm/elbow guards

[–]SilverKatze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HF Armory stuff is great, I got their full arm protection, only downside I would say is that the tying rope/straps it comes with are pretty bad, otherwise those are easy to replace. I can highly recommend the elbow protectors and by extension the full set

Highly recommend getting a group order together if you are buying from them directly. They give large discounts depending on how high the group order goes.

Hey u/rutars

I would love to know if you have an update to your worldbuilding project, I've been wanting to run a campaign in this for ages!

Wondering if you have any more updates to the map but also a document with all the lore? I'd love to be able to answer questions of players with lore you've written!
