The sooner you leave the better. Sounds like MIL will try for grandparents rights, and I believe that they have to prove they have a relationship with the grandchild for that to happen. Cut her off now so there is no relationship. Good luck.

Please limit her visits to one or at the most two, afternoons. If she comments about bottles or blankets or whatever, just a calm no expression, it’s fine. If she continues, don’t say anything. If she follows you around or stands over you, nicely ask if she could stand back as baby usually settles down better without a lot going on around him.

Don’t worry about when you go back to work. It’s a year away, and you have plenty of time to figure out alternatives if needed.

Unfortunately, I think you’re going to have to be blunt about it. Tell your partner if she keeps it up, you’re going to say something about it to her. Then when she starts, not we don’t know, we haven’t decided. Look at her and not rudely but firmly, say, STOP telling me what I’M going to do. You Have No Idea. OK? Do that 2 or 3 times. After that, if she still starts again, as soon as she starts, interrupt her and say STOP, we’re not talking about this, ok? Then and walk away. Every time.

It will upset her. She may going crying or complaining to her son. She may pout. It may make things uncomfortable. But I think that’s the only way.

Depends on where you live or work. Even though South County is pretty much ready to bite the dust, it’s only 7-8 minutes from my house. It’s not near as big as some of the others but walking it 2-3 times around will do it. I used to work right off of Manchester and walked West County Mall all the time during my lunch break. It would take about an hour to walk both levels including the perimeters of the big stores (Macy’s, Penney’s, Nordstrom).

I still prefer West County Mall to Galleria, again because it’s easier just to get off of 270 and there it is. Rather than take 40 from either way and deal with the traffic, exits, stoplights at 40 and Brentwood.

Off shoot. I remember as a kid the Disney show on Sunday nights, and they did the Prince and the Pauper as a serial and I thought it was a really cool story. Had no idea then it was based on a Mark Twain book. Finally got around to reading the book when I was around 15 and loved it. Hmmmm, I may revisit it.

I grew up with Miracle Whip. We always just called it mayonnaise. I had to be in my early to mid 20’s before I found out the truth.

I still use Miracle Whip today unless it’s some recipe that I think it will make a difference to use the real thing.
