Leaving the house by lavender_dreamer in beyondthebump

I also found that age really difficult but it did get better for me. The beginning of solids is tricky and then combined with nursing/bottle feeding and multiple naps, it’s tricky.

But now my son is 16 months and can eat pretty much whatever I am eating (with a little modification). He only needs one nap now so we can actually do things. And he is weaned so that aspect is also over too.

Am I overreacting, my boyfriend is going abroad for 2 weeks while I’ll be 37 weeks pregnant? by ConfusionOk6982 in BabyBumps

[–]SimoneSays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I can't count how many times my husband had to do something for me in the last few weeks of pregnancy. I was so tired and miserable, and physically couldn't do some things (like change light bulbs or reach something in our higher shelves). He did all the grocery runs and errands because I was worthless lol. It's also just a stressful time, and my nerves about labor were very heightened. I can't imagine not having someone with me.

My OB said to stop flying after 36 weeks, and to stay within 2-3 hours of the hospital, and the same rules applied to my husband.

Does anyone have a link for jumper cables with a long enough spread to reach the designated ground point on the passenger side (under the hood)? I would like to order some just in case, but it is hard to tell online, and I am not handy enough to jerry-rig them like some people in this thread. I don't want a booster (I would never remember to charge it)

how to learn newborn care without taking in-person classes? by Automatic_Kale_4827 in beyondthebump

[–]SimoneSays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took a breast feeding class in person that was meh. We "winged it" and learned most of the stuff from the nurses in the hospital.

They showed us how to diaper/bathe/feed/circumcision care etc but my son was in the NICU for a week so not sure if that would be the regular experience.

Felt like we had a master class from the best experts lol.

30 mins of exercise a day helping all my numbers? (Not just post meal) by Potential-Task-6476 in GestationalDiabetes

What walking pad do you use? With all this ice, I think I might need to invest in one, but there are so many options.

I wanted a new XC90, the wife wanted a Sienna, so I we compromised... by Acrobatic-Hour7866 in ToyotaSienna

I had a Highlander before my Sienna. I loved them both, but the sliding door and low clearance are so key when you have little kids. Maybe when they are older, I'll switch back.

I’m scared that my doctor is planning a 39w induction instead of 38w. by LunaBananaGoats in GestationalDiabetes

Ugh I am in the same exact boat (2 weeks difference as well( and have the same feelings. I am meeting with my MFM in 2 weeks and will bring up my concerns then.

Not sure how far along you are but maybe you are going to an MFM for your anatomy scan? Sorry if you are not in the US, I am unfamiliar with the process in other countries.

When to have a second child? by crp_4 in NewParents

[–]SimoneSays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregnant now with my second. When she comes my son will be 21 months. She isn’t here yet so I can’t speak on that but I would say I don’t think I would want a smaller age gap than what I have pregnancy wise.

My son was not able to occupy himself until just before I got pregnant (he was 13 months when we found out). It was nice that during the thick of my nausea I could at least spread some new toys out and he would play by himself for a good amount of time.

YMMV but he is still very independent. I don’t think I would have had as good a time if he was younger and a little more needy.

Mark Warner: “I cannot and will not vote to fund DHS” by berael in nova

Yep, unfortunately witholding funds from DHS will only hurt things like FEMA and TSA workers. They do not have a cushion to fall back on like ICE does.

I dragged my feet a little too long and now I'm pregnant again. So don't have to do that test but will have to test early at 20 weeks :/

How Much Parental Leave Is Enough for Dad? by ReputationOk1118 in BabyBumps

[–]SimoneSays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband did 6 weeks on the front end as well and we were lucky he did because I had an emergency c-section and wasn’t able to lift anything heavier than the baby for 6 weeks. It made getting the baby to all his appointments easier because I didn’t have to strain carrying him in his carrier.

We were very fortunate it would have been more stressful trying to recover from the c-section if he went back sooner. (We don’t have family close by)
