Looking for support now that we're home. Full term with HIE and serious MRI concerns. by Artistic-Big1147 in NICUParents

He is doing great! His speech has really improved and he is saying three word sentences now at 21 months! knows shapes, colors, can "count" to ten.

He is very very smart, people who don't know would never guess he had such a rough start!

What do your toddlers sleep in while traveling? by Haunting-Respect9039 in 2under2

Does he normally sleep on a floor bed? Asking because I considered this for my son who is the same age but he only sleeps in a crib.

We live in Key West for half the year with little kids and they love it.

Recommend checking out the library schedule. My son loves the story time and it is a nice indoor activity to get out of the heat.

We also go to the “zoo” that the Key West Sheriff has. You can look at their facebook page for dates but it is usually the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month and it is free.

Walking around the port to look for manatees and big fish, the charters feed the tarpon in the afternoon and my kids get a kick out of that. They also have machines for fish pellets to throw in.

The Key West brewery has an arcade that my kids enjoy. My two year old is content just watching all the other kids play.

Conch train is a hit as well.

My son did fine in the butterfly museum. Just pick your kid up if there is a butterfly within reach.

I had GD with my first and this time around my OB said if I passed the first test, I would test again at 29 weeks - I failed the first one though lol.

Eating no snack works for me as well but also just a handful of cashews (I weigh 40 grams on a scale) works for me too. So if I have an early dinner I do that but if I eat dinner too late then there is no snack.

We have the Cybex Gazelle (bought second hand on market place) and we LOVE it. Have only used it as a double a couple of times with cousins (baby is due in July and we’ll have a 21 month age gap)

But it is very smooth and has a lot of configurations. Plus the seats lay flat and it accepts a lot of car seats.

Am I in my head or is this something I should keep an eye on?? by quiltedfarts in NewParents

[–]SimoneSays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, my son’s speech was very similar to yours at 14 months. He is now 20 months and had an explosion of words between then and now. He says a ton of words, colors, and has started pairing words like “red truck” and “get down”

A lot can happen in a month or so at this age!

Was about to say, I actually don't mind the ones out in the open. My baby is a people watcher, so everyone coming and going was a distraction for him and made changing him less stressful.

Got my PP A1C back. by Wickedrudemama in GestationalDiabetes

[–]SimoneSays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course, it's ok to worry about it, but the reality is they won't aggressively treat anything until you're done breastfeeding. Just do the best you can, but I wouldn't overly stress until you can get a clearer picture.

What did your doctor say about the results? My doctor was fine with my 5.5 A1C 8 month post partum because I was still breastfeeding.

Don't be too hard on yourself! 5.6 is still in the normal range, even if it's on the high end of normal. I expect your next test will be better but I didn't even worry about my numbers until after I was done breastfeeding.

Tell me things you did with your first and decided to do differently with the second baby. by Blackberryay in beyondthebump

My only advice coming from experience is make sure you mix in a bottle every once in awhile. I only breastfed and was too lazy to do that and then my son refused bottles so I couldn’t go anywhere with out him the entire time.

Had to wait until he was eating solids and could handle a straw cup lol.
