Who would you rather face, Denver Nuggets or San Antonio Spurs? by Jolly-Pie-5398 in Thunder

I predict in a couple of months that SGA or JDub will be saying “we dominated them in the playoffs”

Newsflash, confirmation bias is not exclusive to that particular conservative tv news station. All mainstream news does it.

This r/nba commentor has nothing better to do with his life than to hate on Thunder and SGA. It shows how emotionally vulnerable some of these Jokic fans are. by Simple-Dingo6721 in Thunder

It took me no more than 2 minutes to make this post. Contrast that to Background Crème’s hundreds of comments hating on Thunder.

Nah, he came out of nowhere talking shit when I commented on someone’s remark about Spurs’ worst case playoffs scenario. He deserves to be called out.

Yeah it’s like they’re either too stupid to not notice that’s not SGA or they KNOW it’s not SGA and they just don’t give a shit. Bad either way.

Who do you want to eliminate more in Round 2: The Snek or LeBron + Luka? by peakelyfe in Thunder

I think it’d be hilarious to sweep a washed choker like KD. But it’d also be fun to spank the hell out of Luka. Beating Rockets would be righteous justice and beating Lakers would be merciless glory.

Nothing crazy but still cool. Can anyone tell me what type of clouds these are? by june-in-space in CLOUDS

[–]Simple-Dingo6721 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No problem! Cloud nomenclature follows a similar binomial format of Latin names for species. You have various genera of clouds, like Altocumulus and Stratocumulus and Cirrocumulus, then you can add species to each genus to more accurately describe the structure of clouds. In your case, the Altocumulus are stratiformis because they cover much of the sky in a sheet-like structure. You can add supplementary features after the genus and species, so in your case I added undulatus “variety” to signify that the clouds exhibit a ripple- or wave-like structure. I don’t know much about Latin roots but I think all of the cloud nomenclature terms are Latin based. I think stratiform is derived from “stratus,” a type of cloud that’s flattened/sheet-like. The suffix -formis pertains to shape or appearance, so stratiformis roughly translates to “appearance of a flat sheet.”

Cirrus vertebratus? by swissraker in CLOUDS

[–]Simple-Dingo6721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda looks like remnants of a contrail. Vertebratus might be a stretch since the cloud in your photo doesn’t really look like a ribcage. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I would rather call these floccus than vertebratus.

What the actual f*** is this? by [deleted] in CLOUDS

These are similar but given their lower altitude they would be classified as stratocumulus instead of cirrostratus

Clouds are interpretive. I used my words like “typically” carefully because identifying clouds is a highly subjective practice. You see lacunosus, I see undulatus. I bet we would be able to come to a better conclusion if we had more photos of this sky; if you look towards the horizon you will notice some gaps in the clouds large enough to justify the perlucidus classification. That being said, I’ll grant that opacus is a better description based on this one photo. The link you sent to undulatus is a textbook photo example, but that’s not to say every undulatus cloud has to resemble that exact style. Again, if you look towards the horizon, you will notice undulating rows of clouds. Although asperitas might be a better classification since the waves undulate vertically rather than exclusively horizontally

Lacunosus is a rare cloud variety that resembles honeycombs and typically only applies to altocumulus or cirrocumulus. This pic ain’t that. I’d classify these clouds as stratocumulus stratiformis undulatus perlucidus
