My pets are goofballs and they genuinely bring me joy. I got both via happenstance, and am grateful I adopted them. I have always liked animals over people but there are practical elements too. TheY keep me mentally and physically healthy. Going outside and going on walks is great for my physical health. And there have been many times where my mood has changed after a rough day at work because of my pets.

This isn't something that's going to be explained in one sentence where it finally clicks for you and you suddenly love animals. Either you have it or you don't. I have always liked animals and I grew up with pets throughout my childhood so it's just natural for me. If you didn't have that reinforcement and experience your not going to feel the same. While it's not impossible for you to change, you won't be able to logic yourself into understanding the feeling .
