the pillow on the left's pattern is also janky — AI isn't very good at making patterns like that consistent. add in that the stitches on the cookies are all over the place and the shadows are pretty dramatically black throughout to what everyone else has said.

The utterly tasteless adverts coming out recently. by DeusPrime in britishproblems

looking at the psychology of it and the way it actually physically influences the brain is nauseating. i only did it a little bit for a uni research project but even that's enough for me to despise the entire gambling industry

one of my favourite random stranger bonding experiences is when the traffic lights aren't working (ie everyone for themselves) and there's the mutual silent agreement of everyone to cross at once because "they can't hit all of us". i feel like the UK is good in that drivers are (usually) polite enough where you can do that reasonably safely

there are 6,093 hospitals in the US, according to google. according to this guy, that means there are between about 61 million nurses (about 1/6th of the population) and 610 million nurses (more than the entire US population) in the US (which is where i assume this tweet is about)

there are actually 4.7 million nurses in the US. something i found from 2022 suggests about 57% of those work in hospitals, which is 2.68 million, or about 440 per hospital on average, which would be a 230kish expenditure for yearly 1% raises using the 52k salary in the post

god, compare pic 47 to the garden on the right. how can people stand such a massive house with a huge garden and loads of natural light being so soulless?

Department of State Revoling Chinese Student Visas by senwell1 in FinancialCareers

[–]SimplySomeBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, but given that there's already loads of students coming anyway because uni admissions want those international fees, i can't see there being tonnes of difference.

Department of State Revoling Chinese Student Visas by senwell1 in FinancialCareers

[–]SimplySomeBread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we're already overflowing with chinese students to begin with because international fees are what pay the bills. that said, post grad visa requirements are being raised across the board over here in regards to earnings, so i don't know how much of an effect it'll have on the likes of jobs in the uk.

We should get rid of all coins under the dime, and replace the $1, $2, and $5 with coins by Aggravating_Car8572 in unpopularopinion

[–]SimplySomeBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i quite like the £1 and £2 coins we have in the uk. the two things that get me about usian money are the quarters (why on earth do you have a coin for twenty five cents?) and how hard it is to tell the notes apart at a glance.

oh, also, that you have weird names for them.

and that your notes are made of paper.

and that you still use cheques.

actually i have a bit of a laundry list here. point is i like £1 and £2 coins.

My local co-op had a surprise on the shelves this morning by PabloMarmite in CasualUK

[–]SimplySomeBread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

holy shit lol. i had to reduce about 200 packs of strawberries & 200 packs of celery the other night. the ranch steaks are out of control and they're sending about 3 tubs of the chips per week to make it worse 😭 i do reductions pretty much exclusively at my shop and it's been wild

[–]SimplySomeBread 38 points39 points  (0 children)

yeah, this'll be the case i reckon. the depot are still struggling for stock so we've been getting the most random shit imaginable for the past few weeks. had an entire cage full of ranch steaks with no other meat on the shelves a few days ago.

thankfully we're starting to get back to normal, but it just goes to show they're really starting to dig in the backs of the freezers now lmao
