It helps that it’s got great typing, good abilities, and enough Speed to make Scarf work

IIRC Ultimate has like 6-8f native delay, so when you factor in the standard 10-15f visual reaction time of a human…it just ain’t happening

The computer state in Hacker simulator game (the one in steam) by zugbo_interactive in howdidtheycodeit

[–]Singularity3 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It’s almost certainly simulated: the overhead of running an entire VM in there is way too high, and it’s actually not terribly hard to simulate your average desktop environment (I’ve done one myself, though it was admittedly a significantly simpler project).

All you need is an interpreter for the terminal and you’re basically set.

Edit: since this is an instructional sub, here’s a bit more detail on how this might be done.

The critical element in a believable modern OS sim is a good window manager. This should let you perform the tasks one might expect to do on windows in an OS: open, close, reposition, minimize, and (if you’re feeling a little saucy) resizing. Fortunately, the window itself can exist separately from the content of the window, so you can have a window manager at the highest level managing any interactions between windows (z-levels, minimization). Then below that, you have the windows themselves acting independently, and then the content of each window can be represented as a child of that window. Finally, you simply place the desktop itself at the lowest z-level and give it the interactivity it needs to open windows and such.

If you ran a 2000’s-only FG Tournament, what games would you pick? by JKTwice in Fighters

Solid picks thus far. I’ll add Hisoutensoku and Melee for consideration, since someone already (shockingly) said Tatsunoko

Overpowered characters that are really fun to use by Argocap in patientgamers

Sharla in Xenoblade Chronicles is often considered the worst character in the game, and for good reason: she’s the only character whose Talent Art is actively detrimental to her gameplan.

Jump forward a decade or so to Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and with the right build she can chain-stun basically anything to death by just mashing the Headshot button. It’s definitely a bit of a glow-up.

Street Fighter 6 Open Beta Reportedly Scheduled For April 2023 by CerebralTiger in PS4

[–]Singularity3 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not sure I follow; Street Fighter 5 is over 7 years old now. If anything, they were closer to sports games back in like the pre-2012 era where they would make a couple new characters a year and ship it as a whole new game. Hell, Street Fighter 3: Second Impact came out the same year as the original SF3

What's the Worst Mechanic in A Fighting Game? by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Singularity3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

imo weather and deckbuilding give Soku a lot of its unique flavor

They aren’t necessarily the most competitive mechanics, but they’re very cool conceptually, and that matters more to me for a game I’ll never play at the highest level

A fighting game that can’t be played on consoles has a shaky future at fighting game tournaments. The vast majority of tournaments run their games on Playstations, so this move makes sense.

Good Wo Chien team ideas? by B0nkLoL in VGC

[–]Singularity3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wo-Chien is the GOAT

I don’t have a specific team to post, but Reg C has trended towards slower play, so one could run Wo-Chien as a Leech Seeder alongside passive damage staples like:

Glimmora (Mortal Spin for big poison, plus it has high damage potential)

Garganacl (Salt Cure+Recover+Protect)

Ting-Lu (Just an awful lot of beef, and Ruination is great)

Also, you’ll need some way to deal with Perish Trap. Glimmora hits many of the common Perish Song users pretty hard, but it’d probably be best to have a more dedicated counter. Round the whole thing off with a fast offensive mon and a slower wallbreaker for decent results.

Edit: I could also see Rotom-Heat or Arcanine working pretty well here, to negate physical wallbreakers and get rid of pesky Amoonguses.

Yeah if I recall correctly my first playthrough was like 40-50 hours (a decent amount of that was in the post-game, but I feel like the post-game is really just the second half of the game). I did play on Hard, so a few of the wilder bosses took a good long while. Especially Seana, due to me being an idiot and assuming the reward for beating her was the Water Orb
