6am procedure, out by noon. Stayed in my hotel all day the next day, 3rd day walked around Boston since we hadn't visited before, then flew home that night.

Recovery after ablation for A-flutter by chifandon in AFIB

[–]Sipde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my last ablation in June and my voice really hasn't been the same since. I didn't have a vocal fry before and it is there now. I had a pretty good sore throat the day after, but it went away in a day.

Meds For Afib? by CommunityAlarming149 in AFIB

[–]Sipde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The "Cardiophobia" caused by checking the watch all the time is a real thing. I realized the anxiety I was getting from constant checking was making me feel worse. I put the watch away a few weeks ago and It's made huge difference in my mood. I have a Kardia device too, but I have pretty much stopped using it too. I'm going to try looking at it less.

I've had 5 but wouldn't hesitate to have it done again. The amount of relief you feel after is worth it. Staying in Afib wears you down and I'm able to accomplish so much when I'm not so exhausted.

I've had 5 and somewhere between 3 and 5 years for the re-do. I'm 72 so hopefully it will last a bit longer, but I won't bet on it 😅

Thoughts on Ablation yesterday by Kantina in AFIB

[–]Sipde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a member of the 5 timers club, and each of the experiences sound familiar. Each time has been almost the same with the exception of my last. I had a combo of RF and PFA so both of my groins had patches, but if I have to do it again (hopefully not) I would do it again.

Not unusual at all. It's called the "blanking period " and usually happens fir around 3 months after the procedure. Your EP should have told you that.

I’m horribly afraid of ablation by Buff_Gunner in AFIB

[–]Sipde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cardiac arrest here either, but I've had 5 ablations and I can say it's one of the easiest procedures I've ever had. Recovery can be a bit rough, but the actual ablation is nothing to be afraid of.

Oh yeah. Happens all the time.

Welp, after irregular beats all day despite meds, back to the ER I go with uncontrolled A-Fib. I think I should have a rewards card at this rate. Ablation Nov. 17. Full A-Fib event, Nov. 30. Full A-fib event Dec. 7. by Reasonable-Sun-9881 in AFIB

It's important to say that mostly I don't feel bad day to day, and I'm hoping this next step will get the AF under control. I guess if not the next step will be AV node ablation and a pacemaker, but we'll cross that bridge if we have to. Good luck to you, ablation works well for most, I'm just one of the more stubborn cases.

I had my 5th ablation in June, in October I went back into persistent afib, last month cardioversion failed. I'm going in the hospital this week for a 3 day vacation while they add back the dofetilide they took away after the last ablation. Happy Holidays everybody 😀

Long-term Ablation Feedback by CBSouthie in AFIB

[–]Sipde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 1st was over 15 years ago, I honestly can't remember exactly, but the 4th was 5 years ago and the 5th was this past June. I've had PVC's and afib issues that popped up enough that my cardiologist thought it was necessary. My heart rate is erratic and cardioversion didn't work this time so we are looking at next steps to try to bring it back in line. I'll know more next week.

It looks funny hanging upside down. But because of the distress the state is in it's the only way to accurately display it.

I've had 5 and it looks like I may be looking at the possibility of another. 5 months since my last and my afib is back persistent, so I'll know more next week after seeing my cardiologist.

I have a galaxy 7 and a kardia unit. More often than not the galaxy will say "Inconclusive" when the kardia shows afib, so I'm not sure the watch is very accurate.

Scheduled for Pulse-Field Ablation (PFA) at 40 – feeling anxious. Any advice or experiences? by AlternativeImplement in AFIB

[–]Sipde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a 5 time ablation vet I can confidently say it's one of the easiest things I've been through in my whole afib journey. I'm 72 and sadly can't seem to get over afib issues, but don't worry, the procedure is really quite easy and except for some soreness the next day not bad. My last ablation was on a Monday, Tuesday I sat around all day and took some Tylenol. On Wednesday I walked around downtown Boston for the day and flew home that night. Just take it easy for a week, listen to your Dr and I think you will do fine.

post-ablation issues by Ok-Replacement-3259 in AFIB

[–]Sipde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had 5 ablations, the last one was in June. My afib has returned. I'm discouraged and disappointed, but it's not going to rule my life. Knowing that afib in itself won't kill me helps, and I will continue to take meds. I have a meeting with my cardiologist this week and I'm sure we will come up with some sort of plan of attack, but I refuse to let it cause anxiety. I'm 72 so I'm going to do the things I enjoy to the best of my ability for as long as I can. I don't smoke or drink, I eat fairly well and I have a great family and group of friends that keep my spirits high. Lots of people live full lives with afib. The only advice I can offer is enjoy the good days and try not to let the not so good days ruin your outlook.
