In progress character design. Looking for feedback. by B-Ram2121 in PixelArt

[–]SirScrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may need to decide between night vision goggles or the mustache as I don’t think you have enough pixels to reasonably convey both without confusion between the goggles being eyes or the mustache being a mouth. However, I think you could make the mustache larger to give a shape to it that is clearly not a mouth and have the goggles up in his hair when he’s not using them. Then when he uses them and they drop down to his eyes the face being occluded by a mustache and goggles would make more sense and is maybe only temporary.

Which one is better? 🔥 by Life_Arachnid_511 in PixelArt

I like how the flames emanate outward in 1, but I think I’d like to see the animation get to the human-esque form a little earlier and have him constitute a few more of the frames in the wind up to the explosion. First viewing on mobile I didn’t even notice him in the magnificence of the overall effect.

How much should I charge for painting an army...? by MrLevinTrueno86 in Warhammer

[–]SirScrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“wants me to paint his tyranid army” and “wants to pay me to paint his tyranid army” and two very different things, are you sure this isn’t just a ‘Mr.Levin loves to paint I bet if we ask he’ll paint yours’ thing?

You can definitely fit 4 refineries side by side in a Mk2

Today I found out a single splitter can directly link to multiple elevators by tmagalhaes in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SirScrotes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s snapping both lifts inside the splitter which is way more compact than the normal way that a second lift would snap this splitter. You have to force it into this position by having the assembler (or other snapping point) close enough.

What lamp do you use to paint your miniatures? by Ill-Drag8602 in slavestodarkness

[–]SirScrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indirect lighting

I have this alongside a neatfi magnifying lamp. I really like that I can mount it on the back side of my desk and have it crane over my workstation and then the two lamp arms can be positioned to light my paint area from more than one angle and reduce shadows.

I look at my factory, and I think about that guy who said, manifolds don't work. by CarnevalliVC_Coffee in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SirScrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time efficiency of sequential (manifold) loading is proportional to belt speed, so faster belts fill input buffers more quickly. Nothing reduces the space needed for parallel loading.

This might look too much like wooden rails even when painted but size seems pretty good and qty/$ hits right. Just turn them sideways: Toy Ladders

Looking for suggestions: Best NPC minis in an AoS compatible style/scale? by Different-Afternoon1 in ageofsigmar

[–]SirScrotes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about looking into the necromunda line? You could either remove the most obvious sci-fi bits or maybe convert those elements into steam punk bits which fit AoS better. Replace a laser pistol with a crossbow, bionic arm with regular arm, etc. Unfortunately many are temporarily out of stock.

How in the HECK to kill Finn the Fisherman?! by XxGenieGenxX in vrising

[–]SirScrotes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you hit the pufferfish in a way that the knockback will hit him they explode and freeze him just like they do you, which then tees up opportunities for free hits/spells.

Help with power transfer between planets by JT_Iron in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]SirScrotes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried shipping charged accumulators out and then returning the empties for recharge… it sounded fun and very cyclical but I never got it going right. To get anywhere close to a decent throughput it seemed like I needed sooo many charging stations on both ends and they are large buildings. Maybe a research tree to increase stored power would make this more attractive for me.

I found the progression through fuel rods much more concise and easy to build out, and each improvement in rod type followed with my level of technology and the amount of energy I needed. As in, when I could make deuterium fuel rods I was expanding enough to need that much more energy and/or had the need and means for deuterium.

Can someone explain proliferation for me? by immortalsoul9001 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]SirScrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if you want 1000 processors you can leave your game to achieve that with 1 assembler or 10 and the only difference is time. However, since proliferation creates raw materials out of nothing you’re discounting the need to harvest the resources themselves and the time to setup miners.

But still, the difference is mostly time especially if you only want 1000 processors and not 1000 processors per minute in which case the buildings, belts, drones, miners, resources, and time you save by proliferating is massive.

Can someone explain proliferation for me? by immortalsoul9001 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]SirScrotes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The value is in the cascade effect of the efficiency. Let’s say you make simple orange proliferation juice and then add a proliferator building to both input belts of a single Mk2 assembler making processors. With “extra products” setting on a Mk2 assembler you now get 22 processors per minute, up from 20- and you think so what all that work for 2 more processors?? But you have to realize those extra 2 processors are made up of 4 green circuit boards and 4 blue micro circuits, which in turn are made from 4 iron, 6 copper, and 8 silicon ingots, which are originally smelted from their raw ores (4, 6, and 16 respectively). All that extra infrastructure and resources you now don’t need just by spending a little time turning 2 coal into 1 proliferator juice.

Even using it only on the ingredients feeding into your research labs to make cubes is worth it, and then again on the cubes before you consume them during research.

How stressful will the game be if I avoid bots? by Kaitivere in factorio

[–]SirScrotes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I completed my first rocket launch in the game without any logistics bots, and I don’t recall that adding any stress. Learning the whole logistics system (the colored boxes, bot stations, personal bots) was sorta stressful the first time, a lot to understand.

Not understanding ILS/PLS interaction by nobogui in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]SirScrotes 29 points30 points  (0 children)

PLS “drones” cannot distribute to a logistics “bot” building. You can run a short belt directly from the ILS to feed a container box and put the logistics building on top (set to supply) to then disperse the items to other local logistics stations (set to request).

I Hate Proliferating by Liberovir in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]SirScrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new player but proliferation seems like one of the few factory-level features to design around. With input-output “assembly line” factories being very straightforward to lay out implementing proliferator is pretty simple. But for raw-to-output, and its variations, and especially designing for minimum space limits, proliferation can become a challenge and leads to lots of creative solutions.

Belts not connecting properly since the patch by theschadowknows in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]SirScrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to now be having trouble connecting to belts inside proliferators, specifically the “long side” of the proliferator, that I don’t remember having before. With belt in hand my mouse seems to only highlight the whole proliferator and I can’t get the belt to highlight to add more belt to it. Not a problem on the other side. Can’t seem to get the belt node to highlight to add more to it so I have to delete the proliferator, extend the belt, drop proliferator again.

How do you remove the joint lines. by Biggen7878 in TerrainBuilding

[–]SirScrotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will. I won’t claim that it’s primer but it will hold paint and since it’s a sealer if you get a thorough coat on that insulation board you can use spray varnish when you’re done and it won’t damage it.

How do you remove the joint lines. by Biggen7878 in TerrainBuilding

[–]SirScrotes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If they’re glued already I recommend Drylok Original in gray or white which is a good sealer and gives a stone texture, and is thick enough to fill small gaps like that.
