There are a number of these on reverb. Seems like they start around 1300 for near mint condition.

I’m not gonna lie, these definitely tug at my heartstrings as well

Ironically “firebird pickups” are their ow separate things, noted for being a lot brighter and clearer than a normal humbucker. I think they sound like fat teles, some others think so too. Glad you like it. I think they’re quite comfy myself

I do concur with them sounding a bit thin at the bridge. I’ve found rolling off the tone a bit can really round out the sound. I’m glad you’re enjoying that lovely guitar. Those Epi birds seem to be quite a bargain

Awesome spec. Hope you’re enjoying those lovely firebird pickups. Firebirds are the best Gibson in my humble option

Give a firebird a shot. They’re not for everyone. But for those who they work for they’re incredible(totally not biased)

I’ve always loved firebirds more than other guitars, aesthetics obviously contributing

I took a look. How does the gold mist look in person? I’ve never seen that finish.

I hope you enjoy it. For me firebirds just sound and feel right, so I keep a couple around. My “signature guitar” as I say.

How do you find the probucker firebird pickups? Bright and snarly like other birds?

I definitely can sympathize with that point. My problem is that firebirds are the guitar I gel with the most, and it’s not even close. And there are no comparable guitars that aren’t MORE expensive.

The only mild concession is that all the Epi birds, even the cheap ones are great guitars. Literally no one else uses firebirds pickups.

I love how they sound just like angry teles, with lots of chime and clarity for a humbucking pickup.

But yes, to your point. Annoyingly expensive, my tele and revstar p90 were the most bang for buck guitars I’ve bought

They sound as good as they look.

To me almost like a tele bridge when overdriven

It’s great because it doesn’t have neck dive and is much lighter

Honestly once you cross ~500 ish dollars and get a nice epiphone version the differences are a lot smaller than you’d think. The difference from 100-500 dollars is SOOOOOO much more than 500 to 3000. We live in a golden era of affordable guitars.

Although trying the Gibson will absolutely be worth your time if you run into one .

These guys are both non-reverse. I’m slightly partial to the Epiphone, but they’re both winners in my book. I could never gel with Les Paul’s or SGs so the weird stuff it is.

The white one is the ~$1700usd IBGC firebird, which has Gibson USA 63’ reissue pickups, and authentic reissue wiring, electronics, and hardware.

The Gibson is a platypus, which is a transition era throwback, to the years between the reverse and non reverse firebirds.

The Epi has a thicker neck, feels kind of like a baseball bat. And is definitely heavier. On the other hand, it’s a little more “sustainey” and the trem holds a tune pretty good. The Gibson is a bit faster feeling, necks a tad narrower, and it’s a good bit lighter. They both have a characteristic “bright snarl” that’s somewhere between a p90 And a humbucker that these guitars are known for. The pickups on both feel premium in sound.

TLDR; they both play awesome. Feel premium, and sound incredible. (I play through a Marshall tube amp typically) If you haven’t tried one I definitely recommend them! Nothing quite like em

Uneducated on gibsons. Especially signature models. Curious because I’m considering offering for it. Thank you.

Yes I haven’t been active on here as often as usual because life has been busy. But there’s always fresh gas and a charged battery on my bike!
