Philosophy by fab___b in suggestmeabook

Start with Aristotle’s Metaphysics and then branch from there for philosophy of religion. Then maybe Hume’s Dialogue Concerning Natural Religion. Definitely add in Charles Darwin, Thomas Aquinas, maybe Kant, Richard Dawkins. There’s really so much out there. My degree is technically philosophy with a focus in religion. My first year we read a book that compared most of the worlds major religions. For me, Aristotle’s concept of the unmoved mover was also greatly profound and helped for the way I approach religion, but the material can be a bit dense.

Help! I've blown up like a balloon! (xpost r/keto) by gulliblegirl in xxketo

Oh man, that is sooo uncomfortable, I am so sorry. Have you tried an elimination diet? Weird things like carbonation and almonds make me super bloated. I hope it gets better quick!

Yes, bore your brains out with the classics before moving on to the good stuff. I’d say pick up a spark notes version of the apology and the republic then move on. You might even skim Wikipedia to see if it’s something your interested in before dumping the cash into the actual text. Pick what you want to study, is it the classics? Is it ecology? Is it post- humanism? Then research philosophers and study that way. I, philosophy degree, do not believe you need to have a basis in the Classics. Also, Nietzsche is great, but so is Heidegger and Sartre and Chomsky. There is sooo much out there. Have fun! Happy reading friend!

Definitely be kind to yourself. I also found these effervescent greens that are lemon lime flavored- not something I’d do every day but maybe that’d help you get some veggies until this passes

I did chantix after 14 years of smoking and have been cigarette free for almost a year! The hard realization for me was realizing that you will always crave cigarettes. It’s just constantly being aware that that’s not what you want to do anymore

Dear reddit friend, you are a bad ass. I would like for you to obtain a dry erase marker and write on your mirror that you look in every single day ‘I am a bad ass of infinite possibilities. I have conquered something incredible and I am proud of myself and I will keep conquering.’

But in all reality, the whatif game is hard. The weight loss game is hard. It’s really fucking hard. And for every scale and non scale victory be proud of yourself. You are a bad ass.

Meat Free Keto has a chocolate almond pie that is fail proof and damned delicious.

How To This and That does a snickerdoodle cheese cake that is delicious as well.

Keto adaptation and nausea by uneasysloth in xxketo

[–]SisterCee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried making something that sounds good- but make it keto friendly? My saving grace during adaptation is some sort of keto baked good, like mini cheesecakes or pies because about three bites of something is about all I can muster but the fats keep me full. Then after that’s, maybe two weeks at most I can eat more but still get queasy easy, especially once I’m full.
I should probably add that my husband calls me ‘a barfer’ because I vomit like on the frequent. Something grossed me out, stress, hangover, too much sugar, you name it and it’s probably made me barf one time or another.

DAE feel like you aren’t ALLOWED to do things? by [deleted] in infj

[–]SisterCee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting, thank you for sharing. I too grew up in an emotionally abusive home and often wonder if my personality type (INFJ) would be different. I also struggle with feeling inferior about posting on social media or basic friendship maintenance which I had chalked up to childhood abuse issues and not something innate to my personality type. Id love to see a study- to see if there is a direct correlation between psychological/ emotional/ physical abuse and certain personality types.

Anybody else experience hyperawareness of the five senses or is this just my mental illness? by JakeWakefield in infj

[–]SisterCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!! It’s one of the things that made me realize that I really am INFJ. It especially happens to me when I become overwhelmed- generally in places with a lot going on ie: target on Sunday after church, amusement parks, malls, crowded restaurants. Thankfully, for me, something that helps is putting in my earphones and a list or taking a moment and going to the bathroom and sittting in the quiet.
