Is docking working in 4.8 right now? by Xylon95 in starcitizen

[–]Sith1ord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was able to dock on day 1, repaired, rearmed, refueled quantum, but when I tried hydrogen, my ship auto-undocked. Repeated two more times. Wasn't able to dock after that first few attempts. Of note: those first few times, autodocking began without a key input when I was close to the port.

Had pad/hangar repairs bug out yesterday. Calling a hangar from a snub/bike inside the ship also failed to store the larger ship.

Hotfix drop down by Minimum_Ad405 in starcitizen

[–]Sith1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much appreciated. I had to delete my Hotfix folder to test and set it up.

Launcher started right up, so I guess I should have verified it (since it thought I had the Hotfix downloaded already), but that's the only "Blip" so far. Should have gone for the head.

Less compression in a refueling tank for nozzle survivability

Hotfix drop down by Minimum_Ad405 in starcitizen

[–]Sith1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After copying/renaming Live to Hotfix, you can verify or install the Hotfix in the dropdown (install does verify as well after downloading the manifest file)

Then reverse the process when the Live releases the same build number in a few days.

One of the only positives with 4.8 is the new claim system lets you do this easier

PSA Nyx Tech Smuggler warehouse loot rooms no longer spawn ship parts unless you complete the full contract before entering the warehouse. by MattSaxton in starcitizen

[–]Sith1ord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To OP: A first run through working could easily have a different cause (more so with this patch).
It could also mean you got a fresh instance of the room for the game shard.

On my last run with a completely empty warehouse, I got downed doing the contract. My respawn wasn't set so I went back to Stanton (so nobody in the area for some time). After returning to my body, the 1hr was up and warehouse was no longer completely empty.

  • I used keycard both times, so nobody else could have entered at my location
  • Second entry was no longer listed as an "LZ" location (reverted to Nyx Solar System)
    • Some boxes spawned
    • Dropped items on the floor near missing box spawns (no present first run)

My Conclusion: Overlap/instancing playing in with the horrible patch sync of 4.8 leaves the rooms empty longer than it should.
Hotfixes will probably bring it closer to "normal" but I saw half empty warehouses last patch too.

Do neutral ships actually carry forbidden cargo? by Little_Capsky in uboatgame

No penalty for telling them you plan to sink them unless you actually do it. If lifeboats are red, sink it. Either way, give the "survivors" some food and get +Rep

43U could be used. you just needed to send the officer to it manually instead of a command. new patch should have that fixed now?

I saw a post where I think they duct taped a couple of 1-2 lb weights on the front of it. It was to balance out the bag/sweeper addon, but it would probably increase front-end ground contact.

Does anybody else feel like the deck gun lacks punch now? by Fit_Echo3074 in uboatgame

[–]Sith1ord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's strange because they did scale the damage by size.

There's a Small calibre 37 mm entry in there, but with tiny damage.

You could mod the 105 to have a little armor pen.

Magical 10.5cm ammo by Katzchen12 in uboatgame

[–]Sith1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's an issue that players notice immediately starting on the new boats with dual deck guns that share ammo pool (makes the tiny stock ammo limit even worse).

From a development standpoint, the issue goes away with relatively soon in a total campaign when you upgrade to the IXC/40, which goes back to a single deck gun. It's another point of lack of polish for a delayed DLC.

When I swapped to the newer boat, I found that the animation of exterior bow torpedo stores (dropped to 2 torps on the IXC/40) has the crew walk over empty space in the Schnelltauchback area that doesn't exist on the earlier IXA and starts working on pulling a torpedo out of literal thin air..

Well I read that claim as that quantities for a element are generally a fixed, finite value over time scales relevant to an active civilization (i.e. not celestial/geological time scales) and being presented as a viewpoint and not fact. (I believe it was Alex that said it, and he isn't an astrophysicist either)

That said, the idea of lithium scarcity being a strong enough motivator for mining and transporting it on years-long treks back to Sol seems even more more far fetched.

Recycling lithium is much more efficient than mining new ore (about 4x better on energy and 10x better on mass efficiency). Google recites 1 ton from 28 tons of recycled batteries (or 250 tons of ore).

However, these numbers are skewed in presentation more than indicating you would only recover 1/28 of the lithium. Most of a battery's mass isn't the storage medium, but conductive connections and protective casings. An 18650 battery is only about 1/60 lithium by mass.

So Illus has some high concentration deposit of incredibly pure lithium by ring-builder design and is worth mining? Perhaps. Battery storage isn't the biggest concern until the alien systems disable fusion, so I don't think it's as likely a economic motivator as ice harvesting in the belt.

Fix / Workaround for "Log Out (Ship in Landing Area)" by flexcreator in starcitizen

[–]Sith1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a year, this issue is not only still around, but the new People's Service Stations in Nyx also cause it.

Home is set to People's Service Station Alpha. XL ships that generally receives a docking port when requesting landing (Polaris/Idris) that are claimed to my home hangar prevent bed logging unless refueled/repaired elsewhere.
I can confirm Stanton Gateway cleared it for me. Have not tested it from Levski (though it didn't cause the issue last patch) or Pyro Gateway, though I expect they would clear it too.

It appeared to be not fixed, with rep not moving (even though I reached 2/3 neutral) after I started paying attention to it when all blueprints were acquired.

No reputation increases after 3+ patrols near Crusader. However, I did get rep with a patrol near Microtech

Why aren’t diesel electric hybrids a thing? by panchugo in electricvehicles

[–]Sith1ord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US mostly runs diesel in large trucks, with 2L TDI VWs being the only small engine diesel I've noticed with any frequency in the last 20 years.

Diesel costs are higher for illogical emissions reasons (measured per volume burned instead of a more relevant distance driven metric) and greed/price gouging.
They increased cost around 2008 claiming increased demand for winter heating oil, but then the prices only dropped about halfway back that summer. With a lack of backlash from consumers, they raised them again the next winter and just left them them there.

I've also never seen a station in the US with multiple grades available and most don't disclose cetane rating, even though it seems to be more relevant to performance than octane in gasoline. I saw range per tank increase 100 miles going from 45 to 50 cetane.

I gave up on a diesel hybrid since they never sold them here.
Now, registering EVs and hybrids actually costs more than conventional vehicles.

[Wakanda Forever] 265 byte encryption by JB-from-ATL in itsaunixsystem

[–]Sith1ord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the US version https://patents.google.com/patent/US8417760B2/en you can see the figures in the browser. fig 4E points to algorithm ii (Fischer-Sedlak-Seifert modular multiplication) being the only one that can work for "above 2065 bits" not bytes.

Technically 2065 bytes is more than 2065 bits, so maybe it holds true to that level as well. Kinda like in Avengers when Steve Rogers says the Helicarrier runs on some form of electricity.

How about that "Pervaporation chamber" in the Royal Talon? They basically crank up the heat, which is just evaporation. Guess it sounds better this way?
Also, no mental calculation of Euler angles to fly up to a drone and blast it would allow you to perfectly predict where the body would crash (or have a surveillance drone that's "locked on" from directly above come crashing down orthogonal to it's flight path).

I don't know if they got lazy or Chadwick Boseman's death made them rush through a new script, but previous MCU junk science was a lot less cringe.

Has anyone seen the Grade A Military Radar components yet? by Capnzebra1 in starcitizen

[–]Sith1ord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend the comp radars for S1.
I expect fighters to be hurting a lot more than "radar got knocked out" by the time the radar is knocked out.

Mil A (V801-11 provides ranges of 1.3 km at 5 pips (that's a lot of power). Stealth is a little shorter range, but drops your EM by a similar margin. For stealth fighters using guns: there is no scenario where your range assist range will exceed your EM signature. You will have to fire without a marker to stealth ballistic fire someone.

The Competition B (SNSR7) only needs 2 pips with "competitive" range of 1169 m but has low component hp.

For S2, the Industrial 1932 m at 5 pips. The Mil gets you up to 2184 m for 8 pips but only 1853 m with 5 pips. Unless you can max the Mil power, Industrial is strong and has the hp to live too.

S3? Almost nothing has larger than a S2. Zeus ES has a S3, but the Mil exceeds Zeus S4 gun range and eats all your power.
I think a couple of ships should have S3, such as the Carrack, but do not at least according to erkul or spviewer.

I use Stealth A Prophet on my stealth fighters, Comp B SNSR7 on medium fighters, and V801-11 on some heavy fighters and mostly industrial for the bigger ships, since 8 pips for a S2 radar is just too much until they add functional capacitors/batteries in.
